Transfer Rumour Michael Keane

Maybe - and if i were optimistic i would certainly say i would hope so.....

BUT, my optimism comes with tinted shades..... Keane to me is about the proper quality of player for us to be after right now. Those demonstratively better will be targeted by the big boys and our ability to close the deal is far from certain.

Keane though is solid, not over 30, fills a need and if he continues to improve could be very, very good. Basically exactly what i think we need: young, proven, but not so obviously a CL level player (yet) that everyone is after him.

I still subscribe that this will be a multi year process. This year we have to qualify for Europe (Keane can help). Next year we have to perform reasonably well in Europe (knockout stage) while comfortably qualifying for Europe again and pushing for CL (Keane can help). The following year we need to be in the CL mix (Keane can help). A cup run somewhere in there would be nice.

By that time Keane will either have developed into a true class player or we will be established enough to just go get one.

Who knows....it could also just be that i like the player and think he would do well at our club.

Honestly I think Burnley have just told us no chance, it happens.

the paper we are not allowed link says it slightly different about jags...they say he won't be sold even if we sign keane.... so maybe still a chance?

The Everton manager will make a last-ditch bid to persuade Burnley to sell him their England Under-21 defender Michael Keane , with the two clubs locked in negotiations.

Also when you leave it as late as this, it gives Burnley so little time to get a replacement in. Unless jags is part of the deal which looks unlikely.

Could be wrong here, and happy to be, but I feel all this twitter lark from Koeman and now Funes Mori praising Jags and bigging him up is because the Keane deal has fallen through on us. Just seems a bit odd...

Why is everyone convinced signing Keane would mean the end for Jags?

Williams, Mori, Keane, Holgate may be sufficient if we stick to 4 at the back, but with 5, we need that 5th centre back.
Jagielka staying for 6 months, at which point he is moved on and replaced with Browning, makes sense.

An exciting day ahead only to go to bed at 11:05pm feeling slightly disappointed. Is what we've got good enough to finish 6th and get into Europe?
