Seventh would still get us Europe more than likely pal.

And we're definitely good enough to finish seventh.

Still reckon we'll look to get one in today if there's a good deal to be done on a player we want.

If not, we won't buy for the sake of it, and there's no point doing that anyway.
 
What a ridiculous pointless linking of us with a player we had no chance of getting. It makes us look small time and unsettles the player and his club - alienating the latter for future business.

They may well have been interested until they got a cup draw virtually guaranteeing them a quarter final place. We will be a front runner to sign him in the summer and who knows we may set up a deal for then in the coming weeks anyway.
 
Burnley have told us to sod off and rightly so, why would they sell him to us now? Having a good season. He'll be on our list in the summer (though not our first choice I feel) when I'd expect us to be after 2 centre halfs, with Jags and Mori the ones replaced.

No welcome/serious bid would be turned down for that. More likely is they know they'd struggle in the PL without him and they'll want to get to the summer to boost his price and get a replacement in.

I just cant see the logic of stating we are interested in him when it had zero chance of happening. Especially when the same feller states he never talks about players under contract at other clubs.

I think he's just a smoke screen meslef like.

To force the player and agent to agitate for the move I guess. Can't see any other reason.

...so why would he even go after the player so publicly?
