The time Newcastle attacked and he had to actually defend he looked poor.

He's probably benefiting from having a set of calmer heads around him in Jagielka, Baines and Coleman. He's not ready to lead the backline and it is notable that together he and Williams suffered their worse form. Separated both Keane and Williams have arguably performed better. Keane has room and time to improve. Williams is too reliant on 'playing on the edge' and is not going to get better any time soon.

He was decent for most of the game but for the last 15-20 minutes when we were under the cosh a bit he looked panicked in possession. He has a worrying tendency to misjudge the flight of a high ball and end up jumping under it or heading it up/backwards.

Thought Jagielka was fantastic, by contrast. I know he isn't popular on here and he's obviously past his best, but he had a great game.

This lad has a head like a 50 pence piece, every header goes off in some random direction. Every time the ball was in the air I had to clench my buttocks!
