I distictly remember watching some early matches and feeling greatful he had been there, it may have just been my opinion and it feels like so long ago, but im fairly sure i was happy with the first few showings from him.
Started well for us.
He was massive against City tbf. I can't blame him when our whole defensive unit has been a shambles all season. Holgate is getting dropped for some peculiar reason as well which doesn't help.A bit of a myth this, largely perpetrated by the man himself ("Everything was great until my injury"). However, if you look at the games he's played, you'd be hard pressed to find a performance which is average or above. He's started poorly and remained at that level, with the exception of the very odd game (thought he was decent against Leicester).
People have been saying this whoever he has played with all season. Somehow players who’ve been great servants like jagielka and baines, or freebies who are trying their best out of position like Martina can be thrown to the wolves, but a £25m flop who looks totally out of his depth has to be given countless chances.will be fine in a back line that doesn't consist of Mangala Williams Martina
He's the least of our worries

I'd like to see him with Holgate, but Allardyce would never let that happen.Needs a solid partner and a stable formation
ok mate, he’s been boss.out of his depth? ok mate
ok mate, he’s been boss.
So nobody ran at him then? Once that started it was over. He's like a statue. If you cannot move in this league you've had it, unless...you are Paul McGrath and see things quicker than everyone else, or, you play for a Sean Dyche team that covers up such weaknesses by having everyone defend deep, in numbers, doubling up, packing the box, leaving little space, having duals all over the pitch, and treating every game as a scrap.Needs a settled backline, with a set role that doesnt change every week. Started well for us, but has been brought down by poor management.
Don't you mean another Carthorse alongside!Needs a solid partner and a stable formation
I’d keep holgate over all of emhe's our best cb
he needs a reg partner and a reg formation, he's had holgate/williams/jags 3 different managers and ever changing tactics
Youre joking matehe's our best cb
