Middle aged Man problems

I noticed about 8 months ago that it was getting more difficult to read my phone and my computer at work. Went to the optician who recommended just a slight 1.5 strength pair of glasses would help. Bought a cheap pair in home bargains and they work a treat, only downside is when I don’t have them on for reading now it appears my eyesight has deteriorated rapidly and most words look a blur.

up early with idiot bladder, want to be asleep, had a glass of water, in that limbo of to awake to sleep but to tired to be awake. Want to pinch a couple of hours before the match. Saturday morning ffs.

I am literally exactly the same. 1.5 prescription. And when I don't have them I feel blind!!

Arthritis is my biggest enemy. Hands are ruined and in constant pain. Left thumb joint is twice the size as my right one. Some days are a real struggle in work but ye just gotta crack on haven't ye.

I get arthritis from years of playing guitar, my drummer gets it in the base of his spine from years of sitting on a drum stool. I’ve tried ibuprofen, paracetamol, different massage therapies but in all honesty the only thing that helps with the pain is weed. Nature’s painkiller.

Re the comments on eyesight, I’m totally dependant on glasses now. My left eye has a blurred spot in the middle that can’t be fixed (form of macular degeneration/dystrophy) and I struggle driving at night. Any bright light is maddening, not too bad in the day as I have prescription sunglasses as dark as possible but oncoming headlights at night cause problems.

Everyone else in my family has been wearing bins since childhood and I’ve always felt smug not needing them. Guess this is karma!

Sacroiliac joint’s deterioration is my flavour of the last 12 months….like sciatica. Two joints underneath your arse muscles. Like have really bad toothache in your lower back/arse constantly, especially when you’ve been sat down or lied down on something soft.
I’ve been bloody lucky health wise, am naturally fit and no issues with receding hair, drooping sack, eyesight etc but Christ this thing is constant.
Always been a very poor sleeper getting typically 3-4 hrs of broken sleep a night, have the metabolism of an oddball as can literally go without food for days on end ( through choice), very active and love work so have never tried to slow down. Loss of pee pressure is weird, now takes three times as long to have a leak. Had really poor circulation in one hand from being a kid so cold weather ain’t so much fun.
And don’t get me started on chillblains and shingles…..they really are not fun. Fortunately they are intermittent.
I’m a great believer in you are only as old as you want to be and it’s just a number. For 59 I’m in pretty good shape all things considered so keeping a positive view on age and ageing.

Anyway, 60 is the new 30😉
