The only sensible option.

People keep saying it's an enormous gamble. So I dunno what they thought Martinez Allardyce Silva etc were. PL experience is a mythical argument and history and logic shows we succeed only when managed by former players.

We won't get him though because too many would scream from the rooftops of a lack of ambition because we didn't get Simeone. And we will regret it.

I've gone yes, wouldn't say legend though, I do think it would be a big risk but then when people like Pep big him up then maybe it could be a shrewd move

If the rumours are true that Pep is going to call time at city at the end of the season and Silva only having 12 months left at that point then maybe it's the time to move

He isn’t a legend or a snake in my opinion. He will obviously have benefited from working with Pep and will be given a chance with a big club as manager at some point in his career. For us it would be a gamble,he fits the criteria of knowing how to coach players who know what it’s like to win things.,but could he motivate players who don’t know what it’s like to win things. Definitely a fence sitter on this one.

Every managerial change you make is a risk. You need a team of players to believe in the managers way of playing quickly. Arteta being at Man City under Pep and playing at a good standard is a well known name for these players. The chances are Arteta will want his teams to play attacking sexy football, the players should buy into this.

I voted yes purely on I’d prefer him over the likes of Moyes, Howe or Dyche.

if there is word within coaching circles that he's some incredible coach/tactician/whatever, then yes

If however it's just because he's played for us and works for Pep, then no

Who's Duncan Castles?

This is yet another fine example of the old boys network on full display at Goodison. Nobody would've ever even vaguely mentioned Arteta where it not for the fact that he used to play here. How ludicrous is that?! Just looking at some of the suggestions for new manager, many of whom come from our own fans I think it's safe to say that there's a section of our fanbase who suffer from such severe self-loathing that they crave failure from club (and by extension themselves).

It would be utterly moronic to even consider bringing Arteta in as manager. Have some pride and standards for God's sake!

Oh and "legend"? I know standards have fallen though the floor at this club in the last couple of decades but I think this must mark a new low for the Everton FC when somebody like Arteta came be even jokingly referred to as a legend!

Coaching top players hardly a difficult job,now if he'd been somewhere like Sheffield United and got them performing, but then we've been there already a few weeks ago.

Definitely not a legend and would be a huge gamble, but he’s the closest we’ll ever get to Pep and his coaching methods!
Much rather try something new than regurgitate same old methods. Get a manager who’s done ok/well in premier league. We’ve tried it and it doesn’t work.

Legend has become such an overused word it's lost It's meaning.
