minor things that make you fume

Polzeath - North Cornwall, just up the coast from Padstow, so on the other side to you.

Just the best place I've ever been to for the kids.

Would happily move there tomorrow, love the whole place and the people.
Been going down there for 25 years now mate. I know Polzeath well, but never stayed there. Whenever I've stayed in that part of Cornwall it's been over the river at Padstow or St Merryn. If you go to Polzeath frequently you probably already know, but there's a lovely little country pub in the middle of nowhere called the St Kew Inn. Well worth a visit.

We're actually thinking of moving down there in a couple of years. We have no ties here now our parents are gone. I just have some business interests that need sorting first then I'm pretty certain we'll be on our way.

I went to a cousins wedding about 30 years ago at St Helens town hall. It was advertised as a barn dance but was more of a dirge. They played this old style folk music and did this totally weird dancing. It was literally full of weirdos and some of them even got dressed up in historic garb.

They ran out of ale half way through the night so me, two brothers and two brothers in law went the to find an offie to get some supplies for our side of the family. Found a pub and spent an hour in there, so the girlies weren't best pleased by the time we got back. As it happens, just as the food was being put out, and the frozen pizzas were still, well frozen. Apparently the ovens weren't working properly but they still put them out without noticinglol.

By rights, it should have been the worst night out we've ever been on, but on the way home to Liverpool in the minibus, none of us (apart from mum and dad who were horrified with us) could stop laughing. Don't think dad spoke to any of us for weeks after.

So no mate. Folk is not my bag either.;)
Sounds more like Morris dancing. Despite my love of folk culture, I run a mile from Morris dancing. I guess I'm scared they might try to enlist me likes one sort of religious cult.

It may well be called Morris dancing mate but it wasn't anything like bells on their shoes and maypoles. From memory there was a guy banging out a beat on a bass drum, a couple of violinists, and a dance leader who stood in the middle whilst people danced in pairs around him. Really weird. The best way I could describe it music wise was a dirge.

Being the only one in the team all week and left to get on with it. Work isn't exactly too challenging but ever felt like your mind is everywhere because you keep going from one thing to another?

Not sure mate. We like the area between Padstow and Newquay but property is really expensive around there. Its cheaper on the Lizard and its beautiful down there but miles from any towns for shopping etc. Who knows?

Have a look at Wadebridge.

Not as expensive, proper town with an identity, not just a tourist trap that is empty in the Winter.

Loads of pubs, supermarket, restaurants, a cinema, a footy team and a rugby team too.

Close to all the North Cornish hot spots.

It's where I'd go if I was going to live there ;)

Yeah we know Wadebridge well. It has a Chinese and Indian there so that's always a plus.

Suppose the Cornish dream is somewhere coastal but you have to pay big bucks for that. We'll probably end up somewhere like Wadebridge or Truro though. Each time we go to Wadebridge there always seems to be a load more apartments been built on the banks of the river.

They've stopped building them now. The coast or anywhere near it, is just off the scale expensive.

Places like Wadebridge aren't classed as desirable ( yet ).

I think the thing to do, is choose an area / town and go stay there in the depths of Winter to see what it's really like.

I should imagine, that as pretty as some of the villages are, they'd be totally dead in the Winter and very miserable as a result .
