Fella that I used to moonlight for years ago, seng a fortune out to an African girl he met in the Canaries for their wedding.

Money for a visa, money for flights, money for the wedding, money for the house they were gonna live in, money for hospital bills for her mum, the list went on and on.

It was horrendous, as he just wouldn't have it was a scam.

In the end his daughter had to go his bank and put a block on anything.

Even when the bank got him in and showed him a time line of his transactions to the woman he still wouldn't have it.

This arl boy looked bemused his money wasn't going to be sent.
He thinks it's all on the level.
Honestly, what can you say to him ?
Must be most of his life savings. Gone.
What you describe, is exactly what's happened here as well.

What was mad, was that the fella I worked for was a self made successful small businessman and in every other way, astute to the point of being tight.

She had complete control over him.

She never set foot in the UK, despite all the money he sent and the excuses were incredible.

The best one was that the ticket for the plane blew away outside the airport. He actually wired her more money for another ticket and her mum immediately got sick, so she couldn't fly out !

I'd love to know how it all works ?
How does a clever fella fall for it ?
Loneliness ? Bereaved ?
Are details passed over to scammers for recently bereaved etc ?
Or is it just a massive big net and you only need to get lucky once ?

31 degrees for several days in succession, in a country historically known for rainfall in July, qualifies as a heatwave mate.

This is not "warm". This is unpleasant, sticky, disgusting heat. The UK is not set up for anything above 24 degrees - all our buildings are designed to retain heat, and there is no effective AC anywhere.
