I hate this go fund me culture rewarding idiots and careless people.
Couple uses ALL of their money to buy a boat and sail around the world. Boat sinks and they’re up shizz creek.
So lesson learned? They move on and other idiots are discouraged from doing similar idiocy? Nope they set up a go fund me or some other idiot does and they raise money that could be doing actual good.

My lad is going to Iceland on a school trip in a few weeks.
That seems to have enough staff volunteers like..

So did my eldests skiing trip to Austria funnily enough ?

In my day it was Chester Zoo. God I miss the Zoo.

Won't quibble that it's a plus for the staff who go on trips like that in terms of a rewarding experience. But being on call 24 hours a day for those kids who are homesick, fighting or puking at 3am, or being the one who stays behind for the lad with the twisted ankle, or the one who sits in casualty all day ....

Damn demanding. All of those staff will come home shattered.

Is right. One school residential trip I attended featured the teachers being kept up all night by a dorm of 15 year old lads trying to break out via any means possible to smoke fags in the nearby woods.

As a teacher I've been there done it.
Two things .... You have no idea how excitable kids get to be out of the classroom. Plus, for cost grounds there are often very few teachers involved. The obligatory staff to student ratio is often made up using dinner ladies, support staff and office staff ... Which is cheaper than the school getting supply in.

I blame the Tories that education is detrimentally affected in this way.

I loved our school trips away, as on at least one night the teachers would all go out on the lash and leave us completely unattended.

Cue a dorm riot and carnage, with beatings at the end when they came back bladdered.

Some of the stuff that when on in the recent past would`ve put people in jail now lol

Children these days have it so easy hence why I'm not surprised that they have a nauseating culture of entitlement and self-importance.

Until you've been hung by your feet over the angled black-board for five minutes then you really don't know what punishment in school really is.

On one trip to Colemendy our head of games over saw a night time fight in a field at the back of the dorms, between the " cock " of our year and the "cock " of the special school up the hill - Glen Allan, with the full collusion with one of their members of staff.

Apparently it was a matter of " School Honour ".

The motivational words of our PE master still ring in my ears, "Get in there boys and you'll either do well or show everyone you're a p....."

The lad from our school, he annihilated the other kid.

He was one of those kids who didn`t seem to feel pain and had a real rage inside him once he started fighting.

He`d happily fight kids years older than him and even adults.

The best thing he ever did was emigrate at sixteen to the States with his mum, as he`d have been either dead, serving a long stretch or running a criminal empire by now lol
