minor things that make you fume

The wife of a good friend of mine had her purse stolen where I work.
The cards were used in the stores petrol station.
I reviewed the cctv, got superb images of the smack rat who spent on the cards. I got the make, model and registration of the car he was driving.

The Police phoned me back to say they are filing the case as it's not in the public interest to persue it as the bank will refund the money back to the aggrieved.

Genuinely amazed.

Makes you wonder what is in the public interest these days.

Basically translates to “we haven’t got time / can’t be bothered”

Utter bell of a local chef / restaurant owner who constantly uses his social media to berate crappy customers and whine on about how "passionate" he is about his work. Never actually seems to have anything good or positive to say about anybody except himself and his amazing team.

Even posted a long winded, self aggrandising story about how he gave some homeless people some unwanted leftovers during New Years. Not donating huge amounts to a shelter or anything, just giving a bit of beef wellington or something to a couple of homeless people. And then he went back with some bubbly for them....nice of him sure, but the vanity required to post it about your charitable deeds in great detail is amazing.

Surprised yer car wasn't vandalised !!
That's what my worry would be. Some of these suburban householders can be vindictive.
As I locked my car one time and headed off, an old lady came rushing out of her house and said: "Would you mind not parking here as we are trying to restrict the space to residents of the street only." I just ignored her but something about the look in her eye gave me pause and I returned shortly after and moved the vehicle.
I felt a bit cowardly but it's better than finding a knitting needle stuck in the front tyre.

People who use traffic cones to bag the parking space outside their homes.
It's so selfish and probably illegal.

Definitely illegal.

There's a couple near Prescot Cables ground who stick their wheelie bins on the road on matchdays. Not in front of a dipped kerb, the residents only parking restrictions for that particular stretch don't apply weekends and evenings (match times!) and I'm pretty sure the ground was there before they moved in so it can't be a surprise.

How was your beef Wellington mate?

Similar case at work. We’ve done all the chasing, investigating, etc, and put it on a plate for the police, and they don’t want to know. Cheers ‘The Police’ - yours, a sarcastic taxpayer.

This is the kind of thing were I'd be writing to the banks fraud investigation team, complaining to the police and my local MP. If people made these decisions more of a pain in the arse than actually investigating the crime then things might change.

Tell to go the local papers, they love stuff like this.

Also tell her to go to the local nick, ask to speak to the duty Inspector re making a formal complaint.

It could be some lazy Copper, who can`t be arsed doing anything with it and has back heeled it.

The fact that the bank will refund the money makes no difference what so ever.

As well as the initial offence when her purse was stolen, an offence has occurred at every location the card was used too.

Just checked the TV guide to see what live sport is on Sky this afternoon. The Main Event channel has netball followed by netball followed by netball followed by netball followed by netball. The only other live sport on Sky is the South Africa v Pakistan cricket.
I'm all for promoting women's sport, but, five consecutive matches is surely a case of overkill.
