minor things that make you fume

....being retired is ace, fortunate to be able to hang up my pen and hand in my Blackberry before my 60th birthday. I’ve never looked back, Mrs Eggs and I holiday.

Saying that, you younger folk shouldn’t wish your lives away. Retirement will happen but when it does time flies.
Could'nt agree more @Eggs ,I finished shifts last year at 59, best thing I ever did. Got a 'part-time' job soon to keep me active and a bit of beer money.

They should totally shut the internet for 2 days Easter Sunday and Easter Monday and do it every year, and force people out to interact with others face to face.
good idea but lets not do it on a religious holiday - it only encourages them.
I would suggest closing the internet on Thanksgiving and Black Friday to give brick and mortar stores a sales boost, as well as giving everyone a time to be at home and NOT online.. However most of the emergency services rely on it.

Who are they? The government who would love to shut the internet down permanently (only for the ignorant plebs you understand wink wink)? Be careful what you wish for, it's on Treason May's to do list.

I don't know who they are, but life is better without that constant distraction, My school banned mobile phones during school hours including breaks, turns out there is more chat at lunch time, the students are actually talking to each other, every student at the start of the year was against the idea but now a lowball estimate 80% think it is a good idea. I have personally stopped using it as much as I used to, I have my old smart phone that I'm using now connected to the Wi-Fi at home and the phone I bring out with me is one of the remakes of an old Nokia with no internet, I'm not constantly checking my phone like I used to I get a call or a text and that's it no notifications no e-mails no distractions.

When you ask for a 1st class letter at the post office, they say "do you want it to get there tomorrow", in which case you need to send it special delivery for about £7!!

1st class is still meant to get there tomorrow and usually will but they are trying to ramp up extras revenue by making out it wont.

I asked the girl about this and she said they have been told to say it.

Really annoys me, what happened to our post office. When I was a kid you'd get 2 posts by 10:00 am and now it is one by about 3pm also it costs 70p for a first class letter!!

How have they got it so wrong, all the extra mail they now send , it shouldvbe cheaper not so much more!!!

I doubt there is much mail these days, well compared to 20 years ago e-mail and the ease of contact via internet have surely decreased the volume of post, it's the same here in Ireland the cost is gone through the roof, it cost us 55 euros to send our Christmas cards last year, we've decided that when they bring the price up again we'll stop sending cards at Christmas, €55 granted it's not going to break us but it could be better spent elsewhere, the postal service do need to get their act together with regard to cost.
