minor things that make you fume

Whenever theres a party, gig, rave theres that one girl whos always shouting WOOOOOOO,I have images of them at a cremation doing it as the curtains close

Radio adverts.

Specifically ones that go like this.

"You could save loads of money (Cha-ching sound) by choosing Papa Shango Stores. From car accessories (vroom, vroom) to babies nappies (crying brat sound) find us at.." etc etc.

I know what money, cars and babies are! I dont need the sound effects.

Actually now I have started...there is an advert on Talksport for advertising with them and it's done in a couple of different ways but with the same content, a blokey bloke one, a Wolf of Wall Street One (which does my head in) but the biggest annoyance is one that I don't even know the reference for. It sounds a bit like Richard Attenborough mixed with the twilight zone and the cadence of the persons voice DOES MY HEAD IN! I

I am off now... I have one more, it's another radio one but its a really weird one that is very hard to explain. Hopefully someone gets what I mean but I doubt it...

Any radio advert for horse racing seems to have the same sound bite in the background, basically it sounds like the traps releasing the horses and then the noise of some hooves...you are all with me so far right?

However, after about a second of this soundbite there is a very faint noise, it sounds like...well how can I explain it? A goat bleating, but not just a goat, more like an annoying woman doing an impression of a goat bleating? It only happens once and in the same place every single time as it's obviously a stock soundbite that everyone uses....

Am I going mad?

Stock response from tradesmen when asked to justify a price they've charged..........
"£10 for doing the job, £90 for knowing how to do it!"

Costs more than a tenner to do the simplest gas work. Take into account the considerable expense of legally required training, registering and renewing on the gas safe register and the record keeping legally required then it's a pricey game to get into. Who's gonna fork out for all that if the hourly rate isn't above average.

I'd imagine liability insurance isn't cheap either in that industry.

There's a reason they put the effort and expense of training into it.

I was having a similar conversation with my mate who’s a mechanic.

He’s a one man band, little garage, low overheads and isn’t expensive, yet every week he’ll get someone moaning or trying to knock him down on a bill.

It seems that by and large the people seem to have a problem with the prices charged by anyone who works with their hands

Oh I love it when a tradesman is able to tell a potential customer to go to the trader who has given a lower price for the same job.
These people by and large put in a tremendous amount of time to gain the experience and develop expertise needed for the job and should be respected for it.
Where I live these little neighbourhood networks are full of requests for people wanting to know of cheap plumbers/electricians/painters and decorators. This being one of the more affluent areas.

There is a downside to this though also. I have recently had some quotes for some work to be done in my back garden, I’m happy to pay the going rate for a good job but there are some cowboys out there who try to rip you off, one quote I had was about £600 dearer than the rest and included a price for 8 tonne of hardcore.... believe me 8 tonne would have been enough to level all the gardens on my street .... I should have Sussed him out as soon as he parked his horse outside

The ones who give you mad quotes don`t normally want the job, hence why they give you a mad quote.

The more unscrupulous ones will also " profile " a customer and base their quotes on what they believe the customer to earn.

They slip " not so innocent " questions into small talk during the first visit to price the job up :

" What do you and your missus do for a living "

" What do houses around here go for " etc.

" That`s a nice motor, what did you pay for it "

They`re working out what you earn in their head and whether they can inflate the price.

Oh yeah a lot of that goes on but this lad was desperate for the job, even asked me what the persons quote was that I’d gone with so that he could work out his future costings lol
