minor things that make you fume

Getting a parking ticket when you have paid for parking online. Now have the hassle of appealing this because of incompetence of the parking attendant.

Oof, similar story-- years ago I visited San Francisco and pre-paid the toll of crossing the Golden Gate bridge twice in my rental car. For whatever reason the system only connected the pre-payment to my crossing one of the two times. For the other crossing, they tolled the car, which then caused Avis to bill me, which also triggered their daily 'convenience fee' of ~$4 daily, not just for that day, but for the length of the rental.

I tried to call the tolling authority but they blamed Avis, and Avis blamed them and so forth.

Their mistake ultimately cost me like $35 so after a while it just wasn't worth it to wait on hold and then argue with a brand new person every time but it still angers me when I think about it.

The moral of the story: Put a fake license plate on your car if you're crossing an open tolling juncture.

Is that the same van that took you ages to get? Or am I getting you mixed up with someone else who was struggling for ages after Covid put van prices through the roof?
Yeah that’s the one. It’s been sat damaged for longer than it was in good condition.
I fell out with Hastings years ago. Can't remember what about but I remember never to use them. (To be fair I've got quite a mental list of companies never to use).
Terrible company. I managed to squeeze an extra £2,600 out of them after I showed them proof my van was worth it. Emailing their CEO seemed to get things moving. Since last summer when I bought it van prices have continued to climb. There’s very little value out there so I’m keen to retain the vehicle.

Funny you mention that because a few months ago i got a letter saying i had failed to pay a parking ticket and it was passed to a debt collection agency. The parking ticket was for parking in Nottingham main street, i have never been to Nottingham and never had my car off the island of Ireland.

I had to report it to local police, Nottingham police and passed the reference numbers to the debt collection agency. Someone with the same car was using a fake license plate with my reg details. I haven't heard anymore from any party involved since.

Oh yes, Hastings Direct.... they're actually based in Bexhill despite the name!.

Rubbish company and my boyfriend once worked for them. He said they treated employees like garbage, then later make you redundant.

I'd deffo be fuming then. I've seen loads of vans lately with a "Not For Sale" sign in the window - demand is ridiculous.

Been advised to get shut of my diesel car this year as it's getting harder each year to get it through emissions on the MOT. I've looked around for a moderately priced replacement and it's seemingly impossible. Very little value out there, especially with 'buy any car' companies taking loads off the market from people who've been convinced by adverts that the low ball offers they make are the absolute best result possible.

I'm half tempted to try out one of the specialist DPF cleaning companies and see if that makes a difference.
