@Bungle
Okay having read through this properly now i'm back from work, some of your comments are fair but for the newer generation of media, very misplaced, in my opinion.
People may make millions yes, but reacting / let's plays etc is very very valid new age content, which millions of people watch and get enjoyment from, the younger generation prefer this to TV, hence where there are far less people watching tv now, than internet based content, youtube is one of the biggest media outlets in the world, and it's for a reason.
Also, you can't say they don't create, that is extremely narrow minded view, sure they may borrow a concept from something else and make it their own but so does everything else.
I'll give you a company called Rooster Teeth as an example. They have been on the internet for 13-14 years making their own content with a show called red vs blue, and with the success of that (and continued success of it) they have been able to make even further of their own content, such as their own anime show, a film that has just been successfully released, and even various video games, All started from a bedroom studio, into a massive media company with over 300 employees, that doesn't come easy it comes with hard work and graft to get up to skill at something.
Sure there are some idiot kids on youtube, who have been successful, they still work hard at their trade.. to make it successful, you can't just get a camera and start filming and boom become a sensation, it doesn't work like that it takes time, money and graft. You will get people who 'act' up to a audience, sure, but in the same way you get other people in media who do things to get noticed so it's no different.
end of rant really, hopefully it helps clear up a few things.
Ridiculous comment. Sure some of them may fake it, but they don't deserve a penny even though they've hit their target audience perfectly, and beat millions of other people who are all trying to get somewhere on that is very competitive, and make money from it.
You wouldn't say a comedian or a actor doesn't deserve to be paid.
Aaron's argument seems to suggest that all YouTube/vlog content is of the highest quality and value to society. On his comedians point, I could give an endless list of so-called comedians who don't deserve to get paid. Thanks Aaron.
@kenada_blue @LocalNative I believe Aaron has offered up his counter argument, what do you think?

Been sick again.Fair.
No. I say it in regards to the ones who are 'making millions' how can i say all youtube videos are quality when it's literally like a oceans worth of content.Aaron's argument seems to suggest that all YouTube/vlog content is of the highest quality and value to society. On his comedians point, I could give an endless list of so-called comedians who don't deserve to get paid.
By and large, YouTube is a medium that has a small amount of worthwhile content, amidst a sea of utter dreck.
Been sick again.
You serious? No. I say it in regards to the ones who are 'making millions' how can i say all youtube videos are quality when it's literally like a oceans worth of content.
The ones who can make a living / valid business from it are the ones who are working hard to do it.
Also, you realise there are more videos to youtube than vlogging?
Thanks mate how are you today.Ah that's not good mate, just rest up all day. Hope you get better soon!
Are you?You serious?
Are you actually suggesting that I think the only videos on YouTube are vlogs? Is that genuinely what you asked me?Are you?

Its's what your comment implied. Why would i think all youtube videos / 'vloigging' is quality. (I don't watch any vlogging)Are you actually suggesting that I think the only videos on YouTube are vlogs? Is that genuinely what you asked me?
the fume that sparked this convo was about vlogs. Its's what your comment implied. Why would i think all youtube videos / 'vloigging' is quality. (I don't watch any vlogging)
Most of the top earners from youtube are entertainers / comedy and video game related content..
