Another thing that makes me fume is corporate jargon or buzzwords. "Create synergies", "manage expectations". Feck off.

Well in, a massive hate of mine. Just speak normally. You'll sound less a tit and your colleagues/staff will respect you more more it as well as creating a culture of reasoned communication.

Living in Germany, I find the locals don't say thanks if you hold a door open for them or let them walk past you if you're at a bottleneck or something like that. That makes me fume.

you're absolutely right, pal. My colleague at work today (a cockney lad also living here in the German capital) was just telling me how he got right riled up in the pub as people kept barging past without saying excuse me or sorry. Telling me that it's typical German.

I personally don't notice it, I more notice how often the English say sorry in everyday life when I'm in England...

I'm from the north: Hameln, the english call it Hamelin or Hamlyn (Pied Piper of). Heidelberg's lovely...very historic. Did you do uni there? Got a famous uni there, I think. I also used to live in Pirmasens which is that part of Germany (south-west).

My then girlfriend who I met at uni in Manchester got offered a job at a chemical company in Mannheim and we lived in Heidelberg. It's a beautiful city and a great place to live. I'd move back if I had the chance.
