I had a meter reader tell me that if he didn't read my meter I was going to get cut off. Admittedly the missus had forgotten the send a reading in from a letter a month ago but come on, I pointed out, we pay over £100 a month and are in credit to those crooks. He was just repeating what he'd been trained to do and scare people into action. Fear is control. The meter reader coming and saying if I don't read your meters today your bills will incur a further charge, is that charge the gas and leaky I'll use in between you coming and me inputting them myself, yes?
Or I could go and read my own meter and put it in online and you can bail without your money per reading for being a divvy.
I said to him wait there and I'll go and get them for you and he still wanted to come in, absolutely not.
Old Swan.
The traffic yet again, will probably be late for work because the traffic is so backed up again for some reason.
And work think I'm making this up when I tell them.

There is but it hits the same traffic either way. Plus if I leave too early and there isn't any traffic I'd be at work an hour early! If you know the traffic is generally bad could you leave earlier? I'm guessing you get a bus, is there an earlier bus?

Okay mate.
no chance sadly. Our department did away with Flexi working before i started so me turning up an hour early means i have to work an unpaid hour longer.Just trying to think of ideas when I had staff who were always late (for whatever reason).
Any chance of changing your shift? So if you're going to be in an hour early, you leave an hour early?
Cycle? How far is your commute? And don't give me any rubbish about it being dangerous, it's absolutely fine so long as you take care of yourself and don't take risks.no chance sadly. Other departments i could leave an hour early in that scenario.
Just a bit of a bugger, Where i travel through is one of three directions. So if there is an issue with traffic on one side or the other they funnel then through the middle, I.E where i am. and there is two junctions this happens on hence the back log of traffic.
Walk. On the weekend walk from yours to work and time it, set off at an appropriate time Monday morning to get you to work for your start time.no chance sadly. Our department did away with Flexi working before i started so me turning up an hour early means i have to work an unpaid hour longer.

Simple.
Running out of options here. Buy a camper van and just home for weekends.I don't own a bike, and probably haven't ridden one since i was a kid. So might not be a good idea, plus the only place to stick it during the day tends to get thieves with bolt cutters. I'm not even exaggerating here, we got a memo about it a few weeks ago about bike thieves and what types of locks we should use.
takes an hour and a half to walk to work mate.
And last time i did, ended up damaging tendons in my foot somehow haha
True story: My first work place was a 15 minute drive, 20 minute cycle, 2 1/2 miles or 40 minute walk from home.I don't own a bike, and probably haven't ridden one since i was a kid.
