Misc. Transfer Rumour Thread

Oooh the bunion followers are honing their knives for ready for a Martinez/ McCarthy blood fest, come transfer window close of play.
For me I'd be happy with McCarthy and Ince, add in striker on loan too.

Fellaini / McCarthy / Barkley - fine, wouldn't have a huge issue.

Barry / McCarthy / Barkley - Abandon ship.

The terrifying thing is, I've seen at least one poster on here, Great Dane, suggesting that we SHOULD be spending 10m+ on McCarthy and he would an upgrade on Fellaini.

According to Martinez quotes, he actually agrees.

Twenty million for two Wigan players!!

I posted that i thought in RM footballing idioligy, McCarthy would be a better fit and therefore an upgrade.

In moyes system...felli is a better fit but RM want a mobile player who can buzz around his mf and get the ball to players like Barkley and Mirallas...McCarthy will be better at that and therefore an upgrade to our mf.

But "if" we end up paying the £5m then it will mean he has reached his targets? which if he is totally crap during his time here he is not going to is he?

I haven't seen anything that suggests that it is performance based, if you have a decent article to prove otherwise, I'll readily concede.

Otherwise, it is actually SIX million for Kone. Six.

You believe Whelan would accept preformance based fee? If he doesn't score enough, we don't have to pay full fee...seriously>

How?

Did you see the stats for Fellaini's distribution so far this season? Amount of passes per game?

He also has goals (which McCarthy doesn't), aerial dominance (which McCarthy definitely doesn't) and drive and confidence (which both Martinez and Trapp have criticized about McCarthy) in the past.

This is what I don't understand - other than people's objective views, there is statistically NOTHING that supports the view that McCarthy would be more effective than Fellaini. Quite literally, nothing.

So the bbc or sky report it and it is 100% fact?

So hang on, a media outlet reports it, but you say it's not true -

Media outlets - sources at clubs.
You - man on the internet, no genuine info

But we shouldn't accept what they are telling us? What reason would BBC and Sky have to lie or make up information on the six million pound signing of Kone from Wigan to Everton? Why would they have a nefarious scheme?

We paid 6m quid. its a lot of money. Too much money. If we spend 10m on McCarthy, that's 16m on two Wigan players, either straight away, over two weeks, two years, two decades. We've still spent it at some point.

Like McCarthy running rings round Fellaini,as he did at Goodison ?

8m?

It was 6m.

9m for Barry Ferguson? Would love to see proof of an actual bid for that.

McCarthy and Barry in CM ''intrigues'' you? A bit like the way some people like watching brutal horror movies ?

We had a debate about Martinez's Wigan win ratio pre-appointment, and you told me I couldn't ''see the wood for the trees''. Just a quick update - in regulation 90 minutes, official matches (as settled by bookmakers as the ''result')- 4 games, 4 draws, 0% win ratio.

I said I thought he'd end the season on less than 25% - please vault it.

20m - for two Wigan players. Who played in crucial positions as they got, er, relegated.
6M (not 8) and 7.5M (not 9) for trash like those two hardly negates my point does it? He still did/wanted to throw - what were back then - enormous amounts of money at rubbish players. The win ratio stuff? Not a clue. WTF are you bringing that into this for anyway? It's unrelated.

Because there's conflicting reports it'll be doubted....unless you think the BBC have a monopoly on the facts?

It's not orly who brings this up. It's another forum user.

Tell you what mate, Kone DESTROYED us at Goodison.

What did that count for in his performances so far? How about his 120 minute horror show against Stevenage?

Matt Smith scored against us twice and Liverpool once last season, obviously knows where the net is against top flight opposition - by your logic, we should sign him up too.

There is a hilarious youtube clip showing the ''quality'' of McCarthy against Man United that goes around. He makes a lot of sideways passes, loses the ball a lot, slows down play, and er, not a great deal.

Gerrin.

Kone ran ring around our whole defence at Goodison, so not sure that argument stands up well to be honest.

All this talk of Fellaini not fitting our system is absolute nonsense as well by the way. If he was expected to play as an AM, you might, might have a point.

As it stands he's been played deep by Martinez, almost dropping into CB to start our moves at times for all 3 prem league games as well as pre-season, where he's one of the best around. He makes what he does look so easy that it often goes unnoticed, but our moves will break down much more frequently with him out the side trust me.
