SLAVEN BILIC

McNeil’s right foot is the real holy grail.
FINALLY!!!!

the lockout is over and a full schedule has been agreed. Not too sure about a 12 team playoff, we could see sub .500 teams in the post season on a regular basis.

Voluntary reporting to Spring Training starts today and mandatory reporting is Sunday 13th with pre season games starting on Thursday 17th. Opening day is now April 7th.

So who you got, are you happy with your team’s dealings so far and what do you think they need to do in free agency?

I’m a Mets fan and I’m excited to see a 1-2 punch from deGrom and Scherzer in our rotation. but the rest of the starting pitchers are bang average. Losing Stroman and Syndergaard (even though he hasn’t been around for 2years) is a blow. Our bull pen needs reinforcement also. Marte is a stud and Canha brings some solid rotation to the outfield (and 1st base if needed)

Still think we need to look at a solid 3rd baseman, at least another starting pitcher and get what we can for Smith and Davies. I still think Conforto can bring something to the team. With a new hitting coach, hopefully he’ll regain some confidence on the plate. That goes for the entire team to be honest. The amount of times they let Jake down last season was unforgivable.

With Showalter now in charge, we should hopefully see a shift in mentality. So fingers crossed on that one.

Looks like the Mets aren’t looking to deal with Conforto once FA opens. He did say he was 60-40 in his own mind about not returning. Think he’ll be a good pick up for most teams.

Glad MLB told the idiotic Rays owner to do one with his shared city idea. Tampa can support the team if they can string together a new ground. Baseball is dependent on corporate ticket sales with how many games there are. St. Petersburg doesn’t have a corporate base and people just can’t get to the stadium most nights because of bridges and traffic and constant stormy weather in summer.

Speaking of which, an open-air stadium for the Rays is a non-starter, no matter how much people make fun of Tropicana Field. You’d have so many rainouts and late nights.

There’s a load of free spring training games on the MLB network today.

deGrom not pitching for 4 weeks, then light throwing, some simulated games and then maybe a stint in the minors. We won’t be seeing Josh until at least late July. Scherzer has down his hamstring as well. Just like that the top of the Mets rotation has disappeared. Luckily we bought Bassitt in, looks like he’ll get the opening day start at Washington.

If I was Eppler, I’d be looking to trade JD Davies and Dom Smith for another starting pitcher. Before the season starts.
