As a Yank, you clearly get far more coverage than we do over here, I reckon he could dip into the trade market, but which Pitchers go? You'd surely imagine that Harvey, deGrom and Syndergaard are safe, but are Matz and Wheeler? That's my main concern, that and get a diamond which doesn't do stupid things!

As for the Jets, I have a huge pennant in our house of the Inaugural game played by the Jets at Shea. It'd be rude to not support the Jets, however, you can definitely laugh at the Skins when we managed to beat them so easily lol
This will be an interesting offseason given the pitching talent that's out there (Greinke, Price and J. Zimmermann are all free agents) and you'd expect some massive contracts for those three. I'd imagine the market will be slow until those deals are made (think Zimmermann may be going to the Cubs). Pitching-wise, the Mets are in a great spot--their young pitchers are all still contracted way below market value and would command a ton in return. If one were to go, I'd imagine it would be Wheeler. Though given his antics and being a Boras client, I could also see Harvey being dealt (though most likely this will not happen this offseason but closer to the end of his contract). Thing is the staff is young so there's time to allow Conforto and Herrera to show what they are capable of.

To be honest, he has very little leverage at this point since he's contracted for another three years. However, he has an utter slimeball of an agent who may encourage him to holdout during spring training.

Will be interesting to see if they re-sign Price...if not, perhaps go for J. Zimmermann?

Here's hoping. He's made some positive noises about his time in Toronto so I'm quietly optimistic. He's going to have some seriously lucrative offers though so who knows!

Scott Boras is literally the scummiest of all people.

I said before the post season, that Harvey was extremely ungrateful to the Mets for the situation they dealt with. They were patient, told him he could have all the time he needed to recuperate from TJ, and they'd help him stick to his limit. The way Boras and Harvey handled it, showed to me that he already has his eyes on the prize. New Yorkers are a fickle bunch, and now the dream is over, the Euphoria over Harvey showing fight to (wrongly) stay in the game to save the Mets after throwing a Blank through 8, and the Murph show in the NLCS is all in the past, they should remember that we have a good bat, but average to poor fielder in Murphy, and a drama queen pitcher who wants to be centre of attention.

We'll see if now the dust has settled whether Harvey slips back into 'me' mode.

Maybe I missed it mentioned already, but as a neutral watching the game last night, it was pretty powerful watching the crowd chant Harvey's name, urging him to come back out. I was hoping he would close it out because that was a big moment.

I agree it was powerful. It's pretty clear that he is a fan favourite. But there were still the murmurs of fan disatisfaction at his professionalism towards late september. You can't help but love Harvey last night, his desire to win is what you want to see. Sadly it backfired, but if he wasn't bothered, then i'd definitely be more concerned.

Boras should move to football in the UK. You think Rom's agent is bad?

Congrats to the Royals. Amusingly on a way to a Copa Libertadore match here earlier this year, just randomly met a Venezuelan dude riding the bus. Chatted baseball with him. Really nice guy. He is friends with one of the new teachers at school and we've hung out at social events.

Turns out his best friend growing up was Alcides Escobar. Mentioned about a month ago one of my good friends in the States is a big Royals fan - even through the thin years. At a Halloween party this weekend he said he texted with Escobar, and that Escobar and Salvador Perez (another VZ) we're going to sign a ball for my buddy. A couple days later and now I'll be able to get my friend a ball signed by two WS winners, including the WS MVP.

Awesome. Really nice guy to do that. Really glad we couldn't score a taxi and had to ride the bus.

Kudos to the Royals, a definitive win to claim the title. I don't think we can argue about this one. They were clearly the best in the clutch.

@johnnydawg68 - Sobered up yet?

In the spirit of Ricky Bobby (If you ain't first, you're last...) we offer the following to all the other 29 teams in the show. Something to remember as we progress through the slings and arrows of the EPL season, as well. Pitchers and catchers report in 105 days.

Had difficulty breathing at times last night to be honest. It does feel like Everton winning the title.

Is it unmanly to admit I cried a bit last night? It's been such a tough year personally. Of all the teams I've every rooted for, this year's Royals are my favorite. Not just because they are my team and we won, but they are so damned likable. They play the game right. With passion, joy, and abandon.

There's no crying in baseball, unless you win it all. These Royals are my favorite title winners in a long time, and not just because there are a bunch of ex-Brewers involved, but it was a total team effort and that's ace.

That's awesome. Cool that Escobar seems like a genuinely nice guy. My Brewers retro Escobar jersey is still my game day go to shirt.

Let's hand over those delicate yet powerful arms to Dusty's care. What could go wrong?

(ten years ago) - Pryor looks good in towel drills... MRI shows hope for Wood, no permanent damage seen.
Strasburg is already finicky as is. This won't end well. The Lerners' attitude in hiring managers is bizarre. Constantly lowballing
