Devils advocate- because what people see with their eyes is open to interpretation.

Stats give you a base to work from, to enable you to form a clear picture of the players capabilities.

Where stats fall down with idiots who base a players capabilities solely on that, is they do not allow for the chance of improvement and base everything solely on current stats.

I'm confused, you are seriously trying to make my own point for me?

The point was that I love the game and watch it as often as I can. That I like it. I don't just stare at stats and spreadsheets. It's ironic for posters to bag on anyone for staring at spreadsheets too much when that someone is watch and enjoying more footy than them.

Watching a lot doesn't make you qualified to analyze a game or a player. Coaching licenses help. Reading books on tactics can't hurt.

You see a lot more and get a lot better understanding when you see a game live. I'm sure a lot of the people who've been going to games for decades appreciate your superior knowledge.
