….many thanks for posting, a very good insight.

Like so many African & S American players, he comes from a ‘slum area’, its what makes them tough, its what gives them the desire to succeed, it’s why they play like the game matters. Street footballers, we don’t have them in this country any more & it’s why we need to tap into those markets.

Fingers crossed that knee stands up, ironic the injury happened over the park.

Hopefully some of his countrymen log onto here.

Thought Tony Gordon was a street footballer! Rooney definitely widely described as one too. But yep, definitely compare the back streets of Liverpool to some African slum.

It seems like a good move. We have almost nothing to lose here.

He flatters to deceive and we can call it quits.

Does ok and we have a decision to make.

Does better and we have a potential gem whose value multiples.

You have to be in it to win it. I'd love for other clubs to look at one of our players, just one even at the moment, and think "Why weren't we in for him". That seems a long lost event for us and we cannot grow as a club, and in the way we need, without these types of signings.

Bravo to those who are making it happen.

…that lad says he was brought up in a ‘slum’, from humble beginnings. Looks like they are football mad.

I always say Rooney was the last of the street footballers, it’s a rare site in the City these days. Those of us who grew up in the 60s had a ball stuck to our feet all day.

Seen quite a few remarks from Ajax fans claiming it has a lot to do with club politics. They seem to think the Ajax staff are afraid to rock the boat and start to transitioning the midfield. The fans seem to see Kudus as a future star, who should be getting playing time ahead of the likes of Taylor, Klaassen, Berghuis or even Tadic.

As said earlier in this thread, quite a few are far from happy with this deal. Potentially best midfielder at the club, according to them. They obviously are in a better position to know than I am, but for me it's a deal I can get completely behind. Sure the injuries are a concern, but if we can get him fit and playing regularly, it could become a superb piece of business by us. If not, ship him back next year.

I wonder how much the option to buy would be...

Number 10 for me, but obviously can play in a variety of positions. Definitely should be playing him to his strengths though.

I think he and Gordon behind a centre forward with both having 'free roles' could cause havoc.

Would leave alot of space for Onana to burst forward.

Btw hasnt he also played as a DM for Ajax a couple of times? Could act as a kind of deep lying playmaker / ball carrier due to his speed and technical ability.
