I wonder how much the option to buy would be...

I think he and Gordon behind a centre forward with both having 'free roles' could cause havoc.

Would leave alot of space for Onana to burst forward.

Btw hasnt he also played as a DM for Ajax a couple of times? Could act as a kind of deep lying playmaker / ball carrier due to his speed and technical ability.
Not sure on the DM part.

I would not expect it be very high.

Tons of clubs were interested when he signed for Ajax for €9 million. A lot of money for a youngster playing in Denmark.

He has not been a success for Ajax and does not seem to be in their plans. He had a great pre-season, scoring 4 goals in 4 matches (playing 143 minutes), but when the season started he was benched. Again.

I read somewhere that his representatives had a meeting with Ajax this week and were pushing for an exit. As he needs minutes before the upcoming world cup.

…that lad says he was brought up in a ‘slum’, from humble beginnings. Looks like they are football mad.

I always say Rooney was the last of the street footballers, it’s a rare site in the City these days. Those of us who grew up in the 60s had a ball stuck to our feet all day.
I love the Rooney story that he played for Everton then, after the game game, went home got on his bmx and went out with his mates, ball under his arm
Not sure if true but a great image

Surely there is more in the foreign loan market. Taken an absolute unknown, all we are doing if he does ok we are doubling his value, if he does nothing we are wasting a loan. Surely they are more adequate players in the middle ground that are slightly proven that we can get in for the season.
That makes absolutely no sense.

Signing a young player on loan is a risk free option.
He is playing for a CL club but isn't the kind of player the manager there wants.

Well worth taking for a season.

Exactly the type of signing we should be making more of.
I have never heard of him before yesterday and I know nothing about him but am delighted with the signing and hope he proves to be a star.

The Ajax and Ghanaian fans are really annoyed with Ajax, properly peeved that he’s not starting matches.. he seems to be extremely well regarded, including by journalists, could we finally have unearthed a diamond?! I note @The Bobble was a bit surprised that we’d pulled the trigger on this one ‘early’ as he was seemingly lower down our list.. my take on that is that Utd are increasing their efforts to get Antony and if he were to leave this kid might be needed more at Ajax? So many things can influence decision making and I’d wager this was one of them.

Some of the pre-judging and writing-off on here of a player most haven't previously heard of is extraordinary.

He's 22 (just) and was picked up as a prospect by Ajax ffs. He could be the next Royston Drenthe or the next Edgar Davids - we can't possibly know till we see him in the blue shirt and in the PL.

On the extensive youtube vid he looks hungry, strong, fearless and has impressive close control. We are eyeing a loan with an option to buy. And yet some mallets on here are already condemning the player and berating our management for even considering this deal.

Get a grip folks (you know who you are).
