News is starting to emerge of police digging on Saddleworth Moor for the remains of Keith Bennett after a child’s skull was discovered. Keith was one of 5 children killed by Ian Brady & his partner Myra Hindley in the early 1960s, his was the only body never recovered.

Keith Bennett was abducted on his way to visit his Grandmother in June 1964. Keith’s mother, Winnie died in 2012 after spending over 50 years wondering what happened to her son’s body.

Its such a sad story but let’s hope the find is confirmed & some closure brought to this horrific case.

Very very sad and far too late for his mother but at least he can be given a proper grave now.

Remember years back Hingley going up on the Moors with the police to try and find the spot they had buried the bodies let's hope its the right one
I also remember a fella who was a relative of one of the victims trying to get up there with a mahoosive knife. He pulled it out in front the press in a pub and everybody crapped themselves.

Hard to know how to feel about it. A grim reminder of some shocking evil crimes, but as others rightly point out it offers hope and closure to the family.
Grim reminder it is.
Rarely did such events grab the attention of the nation such as these killings.
As a young boy myself, reading the Mirror and some of the details contained within the paper scared the crap out of me.
I think I read a book about the whole episode written by one of the detectives on the case and once again even a bit older by then, I couldn't believe people were so cruel and twisted as those two.

Further to my last. The book was Beyond Belief by Emlyn Williams.

….apparently the bloke who discovered the skull is an author on the subject.

i was under the impression there had been numerous excavations looking for Keith Bennett so amazing a sleuth could make this find (hoping it’s the youngster). I recall one expert saying the ground moves on the moors to such an extent that a body could literally travel miles over 50 years.

i have often thought of this case when travelling ‘over the top’ on my many trips to Leeds before I retired.
