2018/19 Morgan Schneiderlin

There seemed to be a mini-redemption underway for Schneiderlin before Saturday's game.

I'm all for giving someone a second chance but off the back of an ok start to the season, and injury, he didn't exactly grasp that nettle with both hands.

I'll say it again - there is an ex-French international there good enough to have once convinced Man Utd to sign him - but what on earth does he do? What is it in his mind he thinks his role is, as a highly paid professional footballer?

Lounging around the pitch, masquerading as someone who used to be half decent, doesn't cut it and never will.

Give up on this guy - the sooner he is no longer needed to fill a first-team spot, the better it will be for EFC.

Too slow and ponderous on the ball to be an effective DM.

Look at the great DM's in the game. They turn and switch the play all in one movement.

Morgan takes a touch, takes another touch, stops the ball, looks for an option then either has to play it back, or plays a diagonal that's been telegraphed.

CBA with him anymore.

Schneids was good on Saturday. There is no way those who cannot stand him will give way so we will have to leave it at that. Some give credit when it is due and others refuse to do so. That is the way it is. I have slated Tom Davies before but he has shown some decent qualities this season. Regretfully he does not have the class to unlock defences which is what we needed on Saturday. Hopefully Bernard will provide the creativity when his is fit. Huddersfield ruined the game but succeeded in what they came to do, and the boos they got at the end did not bother them. Their fans were ecstatic.

He's is NOT crap, he is inconsistent. He has been OK this season, and very good at times, but people don't want to hear that.

Yes he is inconsistent and very poor at the same time, does as little as possible, he is playing because at the moment
Everton are very poor in the centre of midfield, missed Gana on Saturday, he does most of Schneiderlin's running for him, in fact the Frenchman will let anyone do his running for him.

I assume you are paying your ticket money to watch this season and not dwell on last season? Who cares about last season now?

He was a coward and a massive tit last season, attitude absolutely stunk the gaff out, and he shouldn't be still at the club.

Also, I'm a season ticket holder, and all I've seen up to now this season is a player who picks the ball up, and either knocks it sidewards or backwards, and every now and again tries to hit a long ball that 1 in 5 attempts comes off.

The problem with Schneiderlin is that if his role is to protect the back four then Gana is a million times better at it than he is. if it is his job is to win/ receive the ball and initiate attacking play, then somebody needs to have a word with him because he isnt doing that at all. Having said that he doesn5 receive any particular criticism from me about Saturday, he was part of the problem, not the problem itself.

Saturday saw the return of the bottleless performances that have plagued us, and the primary reason was we had no outball on the wings. Richarlison banned, Walcott invisible, Coleman looking a yard too slow since his injury. It says something that one of our most attacking displays came from Kurt Zouma!

It's interesting that of all the 'bad eggs', they have either been forced out on loan, or not been given barely any playing time by 2+ managers now. Yet since the incident with Schneiderlin last season where he showed an unprofessional attitude, there are now 2 managers who see him every day in training that have decided to stick by him. Why do you think that is? Might it be because he has shown he is willing to put that poor attitude behind him and the managers recognise it?

Because that has not happened with: Mirallas, Vlasic, Williams (post Burnley sending off) and Lookman.

The claims that he still isn't interested are wide of the mark and hes been one of the better players at the start of this season. You mention how he knocks it sideways or backwards, but that is a standard requirement of a defensive midfielder. Time and time again on Saturday he chose the sensible and best option with his passing. He isn't in the side for through balls or goals as he is a DM. And he did it very well on Saturday.

He could use other options if he was a really good player, he plays for safety nearly every time he receives the ball, two or three times he had the option of switching the play from one side of the pitch to the other but kept it to simple passes,
most of the passes he made on Saturday could have been made any ordinary player, he was also run past a couple of times by Huddersfield players without making any real attempt to tackle them.

If we are to improve, which I have no doubt we are, Schneiderlin will not last past the next two transfer windows, and he will go quite happily to some other unfortunate club and their supporters, he will not be missed by this one.

Whether you want last season to be dismissed or not, it's all about opinions, and mine is he should have been volleyed out the club after his antics last season, the coward getting himself sent off against Lyon should have been enough to get shut. I'm normally forgiving of players, not him though, so we'll have to agree to disagree.
