Has shown in the last few games that he has a level that for some reason he has been unwilling to go to for about 2 years. What’s more annoying is that his level of performance in the last few games isn’t even near the level he was when he first arrived under Koeman yet looks a league of difference to what he was putting in last season. I’d say he’s playing just to avoid being sold but if he is serious about getting back to his best level he can still be a decent player.

What would he have against being sold? Other than running his contract down and getting a fat bosman payday. Which he could legally just do anyway.

He isn't and I wouldn't keep him long term but he has done well in the last few matches especially protecting our back four in the air and he has the tactical discipline to play as a DM, Gana doesn't stick to that anchor position he presses. Ok Gomes is a better offensive player but if things are going south why not bring him on?I am not even his greatest fan but it's no coincidence we played better with MS shielding that back four.
