Every transfer will be sell to buy, we have too many players, draining wages and not contributing.

The exact figures being banded around as a fee suggest that the fee wasnt actually the reason holding the deal up (as if a club that spends 10 mill on an unproven teenager would be bothered by 2 mill, as if its even a drop in the ocean for United either). The media seemingly saw Koeman's interview after the game, put two and two together, and saw a great opportunity to bash little old Everton scrabbling round for cash again.
