I think it is the tv money being, in effect, advanced via a bank loan underwritten by Robert Earl (y)

But if thats right then we're always playing catch up. Its fine as long as the money keeps pouring in, but what happens what that season comes when the money stops gushing out as it is now and starts to dry up. As happy as I am that we have this cash now, are we taking maybe a bit of a risk, always borrowing against future earnings?

Nothing like it. Leeds were doing it based on winning the League/CL. We have no idea where our money is coming from. If it is as you quoted, then we would have Earl's not inconsiderable wad of cash to fall back on.

Sounds very similar to leeds. Spending base on predicted earnings rather than whatever money we have in the bank.

Based on what we've seen since BK took over, I somehow doubt that. If we're spending, I'm sure it's based on guaranteed funds available in the short term. I have no problem with the club spending money now (borrowed) that will only actually come in within the next few months, as long as it's guaranteed and not speculative.

I hope your both right, I really do. But my gut feeling is that we should only spend what we have and not against what we MIGHT have in the future.

I think it's a combination of the TV money (via bank) and I heard a while back that BK had squeezed the board for some extra cash. But I may have dreamt it.

Well their usually so tight he would literally have to have squeezed them. As long as we have the cash I dont care, Fernandes is a great signing and I really cant believe we're after Yakubu, a year or two back I thought he was way out of our sights.

Where do you think the fund comes from? That's the question which bothers me.
The only explaination I could think of. The board tried to get advance sky payment last season to finance AJ deal. It work well and their trying to do the same this season.
We've read that 30 million tv money will be given to each premiere league teams this seasons, if you try and match the figure that we're spending, it makes a lot of sense we're trying to do what we did last season.

BK leaves five minutes early from the meeting, dons a ski mask, pulls out a toy gun pointed black and holds up the board members as the walk to their cars??

Possible?? You betcha (y) :P

Could make a bloody good movie. Old chuby kenwright could even play the lead role.

"Give me your money!!!"

"Oh my god!!!! Here..take it.....Bill??? Is that you under that mask??"

"Of course not Paul! Oh, uhmm, shut up and hand it over!!"

"[Poor language removed] Bill, I'm going to be late for dinner and Vicky will kill me if I'm late again!"

What's our financial equation in terms of buying and selling players over the past 2 seasons. One thing that I cannot figure out until now, where did the money come from?

In:
Baines 5.5million
Jag 4 million
Fernandes 8 million
Yak 11 million
total - 28.5 million

Out:
Naysmith 1 million
BT 4 million
total - 5 million

That's a difference of 23 million! Where the [Poor language removed] did the money come from? Not complaining just find it shocking!

5 million for davies and kilbane in january should be included in the outs aswell?
