I quite like the idea of having Phil Neville as manager with Alan Stubbs on his side.

Football romance at it's best.

We'll be gash though.

I can see Kenwright going for that and comparing our decision to Utd's by saying we've gone for tradition instead of a glamorous name.

No glamorous name would be seriously considered under Kenwright. He wants a manager in the mould of Moyes. In other words, he wants more of the same (i.e the last 10 years) instead of tradition which, in Everton's history is progression and trophies.

And you know this for definite because?
You dont know what he wants at all and dont know who hes going to choose. Why say otherwise?

because it's what kenwright himself has said. he is quoted in the media as saying the "David Moyes way" must be upheld and is vital that the club continues his work. After Moyes received his Blueblood Award a few days ago on Everton TV, he pledged not to "let David Moyes down" (?) and to "continue the good work he's done." I'm not saying otherwise. I'm saying that's my understanding of his insight in what he's looking for from the next Everton manager.

Honestly think we could do much worse than having Neville as manager. He has worked with the best, under the best. Only issue is the fact that he hasn't done managing before.

"Aside from that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?" :) Sorry Dom, I couldn't resist.

Seriously though, your last sentence is what scares me to death about having Phil as our next manager. Will he become a legendary coach for the ages? Maybe, but I don't know why so many of my fellow Blues are convinced of that fact and/or why we should be so willing to allow him to do so on our thin dime?

It just seems to me that that kind of choice should be reserved for sides that have nothing left to lose and say, "Well, what the hell, it can't get any worse. We might as well try him."

As a recent follower of Everton, I was not able to experience the glory days but nor have I endured the dark days. I respectfully believe that we will not return to the former with Phil as a first time manager and are perhaps more likely to slide, albiet slowly, towards the latter.

If however, that choice is made, I will hope for the best and will await and happily accept the fully deserved vault smackdown from you should I be wrong.

Cheers!

You realise this is a forum where people are allowed to express their opinions right? Who are you to dictate what people can and cannot say?

I wish the best of luck with Manchester whoever thinks negative about it needs to eat a hat he has saved are asses so many times thanks to A+ management and being such a likable player friendly coach finding a replacement will be hard I think where ever he goes I will cheer him on but not when hes playing us If there was another coach to describe as it will be Jeff Fisher my 2nd fav coach for my American football team Tennessee Titans which the Titans reminds me of Everton so much thats why I love this team with all my heart and its pretty funny both coaches lasted for 10 years by the way I'm new here I'm glad I found this site.

Hello George, did you ever get the correct change off that bus driver?
