Just wondering, back to just before Moyes was appointed as manager of Everton, who were the names doing the rounds at that time, who did the fans want, who were the bookie favorites at that time and what were the fans saying about Moyes as a candidate for the job?

Does anyone remember?

Cheap club = cheap option. Be VERY afraid. And when/if it happens we'll have 'ginger two clubs' telling us all what a bang on appointment it is and it's a dynasty and Everton have a big boot room tradition now; Bill will shed a tear at the description of his new masterstroke....and some supporters will grumble, but the rest will go baah! and swallow it all hook line and sinker.

Agree with everything but the last bit - if Neville gets appointed and it goes badly wrong in the first ten games the atmosphere will be mutinous. I've never really got the impression that people 100% accepted Neville as a player and captain, and it will be exacerbated in the manager role. Imagine if we got hammered by united and he fawned all over moyes and his dream club - it would be like Hodgson's RS derby defeat post match comments, causing mayhem

Would internal mean cheap though Dave? I can't see, for instance Pip taking a massive pay cut.

On SSN BK has interviewed 3 internal candidate's last week ex players with coaching badges he is now in the process of interviewing outside candidates - BK has been inundated by fans on who they want by e mail etc Martinez has met with Dave Whelan today & gone away to talk to his wife about his future, Whelan mentioned training facilities was on the menu & fetching a youth system through he looked a bit emotional & stated he would not stand in his way if he wished to leave!

It was like a different world then! Smart phones didn't really exist so people weren't online 24/7. Nowhere near the level of anticipation we're experiencing now.

Lots of talk about Vitor this afternoon with this from the ever reliable Daily Star:

PORTO boss Vitor Pereira could be set to abandon the Portuguse champions to take charge at Everton.

Pereira, 44, held talks with a 'top half Premier League club' in London yesterday according to Portugese newspaper Maisfutebol.

Everton are the only team in the top 10 without a manager and chairman Bill Kenwright reportedly carries out much of his business in the capital, fuelling rumours that that club is Everton.

Pereira's contract expires at the end of June but it is not known whether he will be offered a new deal at Porto, despite guiding them to the title without losing a game.

Fans are said to be unhappy with the club's performances in European competitions.

Bookmakers have reacted by making Pereira the 5/2 favourite to replace David Moyes, who has ended his stay at Goodison Park to replace Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

Excellent, always wanted a boot room, can't think why we never had one in the past......

This sounds painfully likely.

Ahh the good old star didnt even mention Man City were not only club in top ten

Now we are getting to a critical stage of finding Moyes replacement IMO ,would it not be a good time for a Final poll
On the off chance that our glorious leader picks up on it
Thoughts !!
