I don't understand the negativity towards Martinez, if Wigan had amassed just a couple more points (3 or 4 in fact), Wigan would've stayed up yet again and Martinez heralded a genius for both that and winning the FA Cup, yet it seems winning the cup is seen as a total fluke and he's basically ****e cos they were relegated. People forget how hard it must be to persuade players to sign for them, how hard it must be to motivate a side every week with the crowds they get. I don't think he's the best manager ever but I reckon he'd be a breath of fresh air at Everton, Ross Barkley's career would take a sudden up turn that's for sure, as would Jon Stones' and that's what should be the model at Everton given the money situation, not trying to chase big money signings when these players only want to play for Champions League teams

one of the Echo writers was on Talksport just now, saying Vitor Periera's people contacted Everton last week, not the other way round. I feel he's just dug a massive hole for the club there, as when Bill appoints Stubbs or Martinez a large number of us would be fuming knowing a proven winner (don't care what country) has been passed up in favour of a sentimental appointment with no experience or a man who built a team over a number of years (from a pretty poor team he inherited) and got them relegated.
