Ralf Rangnick born 29 June 1958 in Backnang is a German football manager and former amateur footballer. Rangnick was most recently manager of Bundesliga team Schalke but resigned in September 2011 because of health reasons. But in May 2013 Ralf returned to management, signing a 2 year deal with Everton. His first major decision at Goodison was to get rid of the snide Chang served in the stadium, replacing it with Strawberry lager.

For what he did at Hoffenheim alone makes him a very good shout in my eyes!. He worked miracles there and deservedly got the schalke job and did well there too!.

He did suffer with stress at Schalke but his biggest gripe there was that they sold a player/players from behind is back and without his consent, so left.

He hasnt really been out of the game long either as he's been director of football at Red Bull Salzburg for a while.

Could be worth a shot, but i still expect it to be Martinez to be our new manager come the end of the weekend.

Well there's an itk ( make what you want out of it ) on twitter called soccer sauce saying that talkes between efc and Martinez have broken down and that he could be next Brighton boss . Ironic timing

never really took any notice in him so don't know what his style if play is like. bit of a mad name but tbh but if he brought us success he could be called jimmy saville for all I care. now he's someone that would defo give youth a chance.

@Fo0tballista: Selim Teber, formerly of Hoffenheim: '''Everything changed when Rangnick arrived. That's when we became really successful.''

Just lost my bottle and cashed out on betfair with £65 profit. :(

Still think Martinez will get it though. Not convinced about rangnick from what I've read.

I'd take him.

Like i've said - not fussed about Martinez - if we get him I wont be disappointed, but I do think we can do better. Can't help but feel Kenwright will go for the "safe" option.

However, credit to Kenwright (at the moment atleast) because he is interviewing many candidates, and considering all possibilities - and actually taking his time to make a decision. It would have been very easy for him to say "oh Martinez is available? Best get him quick before Malaga does"
