Finners, Ijjy

why the notion that Everton couldn't get a manager like Laudrup?

He's a big name as a player but he's never managed a big club and whatever anyone thinks of our financial situation we've got a lot more resources than a club like Swansea.

Laudrup would give serious thought to becoming manager of Everton.

I've explained my reasons about 32 times in this thread.

It would be ace. But there are many reasons why it won't happen. Just have a look back. I did bullet points and everything.

He would have last season. Not now I'm afraid.

You underestimate the pull of our fans and the size of the club compared to Swansea, the resources are greater and we have a board and chairman who are patient with managers and give them control, he has said he has had the top level in his playing days and as a manager he is not so bothered by winning trophies at the likes of Barca and Madrid. I would say he would see it as a big step up without the turncoat fans and obsession with winning every trophy available or GTFO.

Most important thing we can do when Moyes does leave (hopefully not for a long time) is to adopt a proper set up with a full time director (shocking I know) working at the football club.

They should appoint a Sporting Director who runs the club from top to bottom. Setting up the structure of the club properly and appointing all coaches at all levels with a clear vision.

Then they choose a first team coach who matches their vision and can inspire the players.

But given we have a board of directors who have nothing to do with the club and no vision I fully expect them to just appoint Martinez and be done with it.

You always seemed well reasoned and enjoy your posts mate . I'm not banging the drum for laudrup nor am I saying he'd quit Swansea to run here but neither do I think it's a call he wouldn't take . I actually think that if an approach was made we'd be exactly the kind of club he'd consider .

Quitting whilst your ahead is always something to keep in mind , whether they're in Europe or we are or not we are (and I hate this word ) a bigger club than them just as spurs are bigger than us. I accept he's financially secure but wages do make a difference and he'll be on a fraction of what moyes is and what we'd pay him. The players here are frankly better than Swansea's and there is a much larger opportunity for him to 'wheel & deal' whilst our wage structure would enable him to recruit and retain players as I believe there will be a couple out at Swansea in the summer for 'bigger & better things' . The talk of the Chelsea & Madrid jobs seem very premature and reek of paper talk as do the stories a out his lack of interest , most managers are ambitious and I think he'd certainly look at us as an option .

Like I say I'm not sure he's established his credentials (but who out there has ? ), i'm not sure we'd go for him & I'm far from certain he'd come in fact it's entirely possible he wouldn't be interested but to dismiss him as 'out of our league ' like a mourinho seems a bit harsh on the club in my opinion .

Do you think it will come to the point where we need to make that call? Or is Moyes more than likely staying on.

I'm probably as much in the dark as anyone and anything I say is just my opinion although I do allow the thoughts of others better informed to influence me . the same as its been for a while i think if he gets offered a job that can be considered a step up with wages to match he'll take it but if he doesn't he'll probably stay . In reality only moyes knows but I believe he's cast admiring glances at at least one job so I can't see that changing.

I hope he stays but I could see Schalke coming in for him.

I just want Moyes out now, completely turned on him in the last month, his body language looks off to me and im sick to death of the timing of his substitutes. But its A Tough call to name who the new manager will be with this ****e board we currently have
