Me. You. Anyone who has the balls to play 2 upfront and won't whimper in the last 5 mins when we're looking for a winner and equaliser. Oh and who won't take Mirallas off with 20 mins left

If we're pushing the boat out then Biesla from Bilbao or Tuchel from Mainz, if its going to be a British manager then it has to be a blue so step forward big Duncan over any off the other usual suspects

if the boat is being pushed out i'd go for de boer

I'm also not overly convinced by Laudrup despite the great season he's had, BUT he's a legend of world football and an apprentice of Johan Cruyff, so would still bring a hell of a lot to the table

He wouldn't give a **** about us either.

The manager needs to have a passion to want to win and take the mantel from Moyes.

Laudrup will just use it as a springboard if he does well. Will just walk away if it's getting tough.

And what's he like with a limited budget season after season?

I'd like to see us go for a manager that has played at the top level. The only trophies we've won in the modern era have come from managers who could play a bit.......Zola?

Extending this to other managers who've won something the last 10 years the theory doesn't really hold:

Mancini: world-class
Laudrup: world-class
Ancelotti: international-class
Di Matteo: international-class
Fergie: top-class striker (tho' Scottish League...)
McLeish: international-class (tho' Scotland...)
Redknapp: average first-team player
McLaren: average first-team player
Wenger: reserve-team player at small club
Ramos: reserve-team player at small club
Benitez: reserve-team player at small club
Mourinho: reserve-team player at small club

girard sounds like a good fit for us: Girard has managed Nîmes, Strasbourg, Pau FC and multiple France youth teams. He coached the France national under-21 football team from 2004-08. On 3 June 2009 he became the new head coach of Montpellier, replacing Rolland Courbis. In the 2011-12 season, Montpellier shocked the footballing world by winning its first Ligue 1 title, finishing the season with 82 points, three more than runner-up Paris Saint-Germain. He said after his team won it. "I think our triumph is a real shot in the arm for French football.[SUP][1][/SUP][SUP][2][/SUP][SUP][3][/SUP] "It just goes to show that everyone can beat everyone and that money isn't the be-all and end-all. We're a club of mates, a club that brings young players through and gives them a chance. "At the end of the day, it's worked out well for us. We played some great football, with a well-balanced team and I'm overwhelmed

Several very good managers out of contract this summer so I can't see us paying compensation for one who isn't

Here's one that hasn't been mentioned, but is a damn sight more credible than some of the names listed:

Eddie Howe at Bournemouth. Maybe one for the future, but worth keeping an eye on. Definitely an emerging young coach.

Very ambitious young manager, built a great team at Bournemouth, got them promoted from League 2 to League 1. Then left to go to Burnley. Did okay there, but returned to Bournemouth for family reasons (his father was ill and has since passed away). Bournemouth were struggling in the drop zone in League 1 when he rejoined them in October; he totally turned them around again and got them promoted to the Championship for the first time in 23 years.

Might be a few years early for him, perhaps he needs another few years in the Championship, maybe reaching the play offs, but other than that, he is where Moyes was when he left PNE for Everton in 2002.

He's only aged 35 - two promotions under his belt already, used to moving clubs, and at such a young age too.

Probably a step to far, he's got champions league regularly at Ajax, can't see him being tempted. Be nice though

I agree. There is no way De Boer would join us. Massive step backwards for him. He could get a bigger job easily.

As for this Girard lad, if he thinks having £30million is a small budget, he will love it here.

Kenwright will be made up to hire a **** manager who accepts a zero net spend budget on 30k a week.

I imagine his other board of directors will be all for saving more money to go alongside that saved by Phil Neville, and that generated by the sales of Baines, Jagielka and Fellaini.
