I'd happily accept Steve Bruce. Just got his club promoted second in a tough league. They guy is a winner as proven by his United days. Steady jobs at Wigan (better than Martinez) and Birmingham.

This years about the first time in 7 years he had a team playing well for the whole season. He's built is reputation on his teams being decent for about 2 and half months over the course of the season and scraping a mid-table finish.

So inconsistent.

I cant believe the amount of posters against him. Obviously I'd much rather Bill got us Pellegrini but realistically Martinez isnt the worst idea.

Exactly the way I'm thinking really. Was against Martinez at first but have been warming to him more and more as the hours go on. Think he would keep the traditions of our club ticking along and at least has experience in the PL. would prefer than a total gamble on a foreign manager changing everything then being rubbish, leaving us in the ****e!

Anyone know roughly what it would cost getting him out of his Wigan contract?

Someone who's actually won stuff and has the taste of it (unlike Moyes) and who wont **** themselves if they get to the brink of winning stuff with us (like Moyes) would be good.

You're missing the point (as per usual). We're not talking about ideal world choices here are we? All this Porto manager stuff is pie in the sky. We'll be shopping in the Ian Holloway/Hughes class aisle I'm afraid.

Carry on with the fantasy football manager lists though.

You're a man who constantly complains about the position the club is in, yet you're saying you'd happily accept McClaren.

If you'd said 'I'd take McClaren over Mark Hughes' well obviously. But you didn't.

And  if you actually think Hughes or Holloway will get the job.

I've lost count of the amount of times you've called Moyes a ginger prick because of his defensive football, but now you're saying you'd be happy if a man known for defensive football who was sacked three times in a row was brought in.

Nonsense.

I know but there's the bigger picture, bit like Moyes has never won a trophy but he's been chosen as the best fit at United. They're Wigan, of course he hasn't taken them to 4th. But he's young, ambitious and has a philosophy for playing free passing footy. I get the feeling he takes his job very seriously too, not unlike moyesie

Martinez is a better shout than the likes of any British manager,Steve Bruce,F+++in mark giz a job Hughes,Martin Onei
They have all F+++in failed,This appointment as got to be the right one

I can tell you why Benitez wouldn't come here if that helps?

Apart from the fact that I actually don't rate him - he has succeeded with teams built by others - I am sure I heard him in an interview today saying Moyes will do well now at a big club" (n)

We'll be shopping in Lidl solely due to the bell end pushing the trolley, not because we couldn't afford to visit Waitrose - Moyes was one of the highest paid managers on the planet, there'd be plenty of high profile takers

Why? He's out of contract soon and wants to come the the premier league apparently. Are there any bigger clubs managerless?

Yep...

The more i think about Martinez the more it makes sense. Has been loyal to Wigan and only left Swansea after getting them promoted. We need a manager who'll be with us for the long haul, would fume if we turned into a team changing coaches every year or two.

he only left swansea because it was wigan don't forget. Any other club (apart from a european powerhouse) and he would have said no.

Martinez says no to Liverpool,
Yes to Everton, 'koff whealan you git.

stop trying to persuade me brennan - mind you if it's either martinez or lennon, i'll be dancing in the street if we got martinez
