If you were David Moyes, manager of a rival to Everton, would you really help choose someone who might be a challenger to you?

Seems a little menal doesn't it?

I think it shows the incompetents of our board more since they're treating Moyes as if he were Ferguson.

It's tough though isn't it ? Do you take moyes at his word and hope he's being honest but what if he'd gone to the press and said "I'm only leaving because kenwright is in talks with my replacement , I feel so betrayed" . What about the manager tour speaking to if his club found out ? How deep into commitment do we get , Do we talk transfers or sales ? What about if the manager we'd selected had lost 10 on the bounce do we commit or just chat ?

I'm not defending kenwright as I think he deserves much of the criticism he gets however I don't think it's as easy as lining up a replacement when you don't know if your own manager is staying or going . I Do believe we should have normally sounded out a few possibles but I suspect that's what we've probably done with the likes of Martinez .

In all honesty much of the blame here seems to lay at our former managers door
Spot on.

To be fair Moyes probably knew about this ages ago.

Wouldn't surprise me if he'd known about it for a year, or even longer.

We can't be naive here and think him and Sir Alex don't talk outside of the fixtures between the two teams.

The thing that has annoyed me though is Moyes' smarmy replies in interviews about "let's see at the end of the season" and all that, fully in the knowledge that he was off. I blame him for us not making the top five this season.

If we get a decent replacement, I'll be made up he's gone. Played us all for right carts.

What want you to do him say?

"Sorry guys I'm off to United at the end of the season" ...

I am terrified at the thought of Moyes having ANY input in our new manager. It has nothing to do with him.

I still believe someone could move us forward from Moyes, take the next step that he was struggling to make with the football he plays.

A clone of Moyes is the worst thing we could do. I'd like to see us try to appoint someone who could get this great squad Moyes has built playing in more of a positive manner, not a lesser version of Moyes struggling to keep us where we are now.

We've got to believe we can move forward with the right appointment and I genuinely believe we can.

i dont understand why moyes has any input here. he's a former manager. yes, he served us well enough to stabilize the ship but he's gone. due your due ****ing diligence and find your own ****ing manager. of course the board couldnt figure that part out on their own..

Why is Sheeds spot on? Just what "blame" lay at Moyes' door? Sheeds has already been proved spectacularly wrong by claiming Moyes wouldn't get the job at one of the top 4 above us as they wouldn't be interested in him. Well he's got the biggest job of the lot but still people are coming out with ****e and pointing the finger at Moyes for just about everything! He had a contract with Everton, he's been loyal and seen that commitment through, and now he's taking over a better job. To you me and everyone on here it's not a better job, but moyes isn't an Evertonian is he? He owes us diddly squat.

He must have known what he was going to do for a long time and didn't tell us.

The last thing we need, with the way football is going, is a blood-and-guts old fashioned British manager. We need a thinker. Kenwright will inevitably go for the former option.
