Everton chairman Bill Kenwright says he has an idea of who he wants to replace David Moyes as manager, amid claims he is ready make an internal appointment.

Roberto Martinez, Malky Mackay, Gus Poyet and Neil Lennon have all been linked to the role at Goodison Park.

However, there is a groundswell of opinion that Everton should look closer to home and reports are claiming that Kenwright is already looking at internal candidates.

Phil Neville, David Weir, Steve Round, Duncan Ferguson and Alan Stubbs are all said to be potential candidates to help fill the void left by Moyes.

"I have got people in mind," Kenwright is quoted by the People.

"A lot of those mentioned are not too far away.

"Everton have got a type, it's a very hard working industrial football club."
what does this mean

I don't think taking a team down is necessarily a bad thing for a manager. I know in my
job I never try to make the same
mistakes twice. He is still a young
man. Don't forget, man Utds manager
only kept us up on goal difference
before obviously learning from it.

I presume you are referring to Moyes finishing one season in 17th? Bit of a myth that we were fighting telegation that season - we took two points from the last 5 games and dropped like a stone but were still comfortably clear of relegation - 6 points and a miles better goal difference.

I thought it showed class to be fair mate. I remember a lot of people slating rooney for his reaction when he scored against us and wanting him to show more class. That's what we are aren't we a club that shows class? Seems to me we aren't happy when our players show a bit a class and we aren't happy when they are classless.

I do not see that as class frankly, I see it simply as "look Mr Ferguson and co I am still one of you even though I am playing for Everton now and even though we have just beaten you in the F.A Cup semi on penalties you won't catch me celebrating"

Struck me as childlike and passionless personally but each to their own

A groundswell of opinion? Oh really?

So who fits this bill best? Is is Martinez?

I honestly feel that it doesn't point to Martinez and that's my worry, in all his years at Wigan he's never managed to sort out his defence. It's all well and good to play attractive attacking footy but you need defenders who can defend, just look at all the top teams. Martinez doesn't seem to have the ability to either recognize a decent defender and/or get them to defend. Imagine if even just 2 out our back 4 were to leave do you think Martinez could sort out a defence without spending tons of money?

I do not like the sound of that whatsoever. It wouldn't surprise me one iota if Moyes has already got in his ear and further more it wouldn't surprise me if Bill has taken that advice hook, line and sinker.

It is at times like these that I realise how much that man gets on my tit's

Just heard Kevin Radcliffe on Talk sport stating DM & BK must have known months before that DM was off to Man U - criticised BK for not giving DM an ultimatum to sign his contract - IN his opinion that's when an internal trail appointment should have then been tried out as we were safe - then if it had not worked we could have looked externally, he blamed that on BK not putting a clause in like other clubs do if clubs like Man U come calling no compensation to a club like EFC who have a tight budget! Its not looking that good BK to strike yet again!

Jesus, it's going to be internal isn't it? At least the positive in all of this is that when it goes tits up the scrutiny on Bill and the Board will intensify and hopefully that might prepare the ground for a change at that level.

If it has to be internal, I would want Stubbs or Sheedy, purely because they at least have experience of managing our age group teams which the other candidates don't.

Surely Phil Neville will go with Moyes to united. He's a red devil and been Moyes' right hand man on the pitch for years.
