Moyes sacked by United

Might be a good fit, but they'll all need some time for adjustment I reckon.

Not sure where I saw his comments mate, might be from a link on here for all I know, can't say I care enough about him to follow his epic farce with scholarly method like, just amused sufficiently to read snippets, and check whether he's bothered checking-in at Reality Hotel yet.

Edit:

Oh, thought you were asking for the source ffs, i've just read back to find it - doh!

I think several people discussed it here last week, but the entirety of the text is worth reading--beyond fabulous--so I posted it again. I don't harbor any ill will towards Moyes--at least I don't think I do--largely because I only watched a small part of his era. I'm not interested in bashing him per se, but watching him self-destruct has been fascinating. It's like he's a one-man transfer thread, full of delusion and nonsense with just enough truth and reason sprinkled in to distract you from the impending melt.

I found this last week as well, going on about his transfer targets at United:

David Moyes has revealed he wanted to sign Paul Pogba for Manchester United, but suggested a deal would have been impossible.

The former United manager named the Juventus midfielder - along with Arturo Vidal and Toni Kroos, two other players he scouted extensively - among five players he selected to watch at the forthcoming World Cup.

There's an array of fascinating sub-plots that, if they were to be compiled and passed off as fiction, would put the likes of Aeschylus to shame, and it's not not over yet, lol

Don't see an issue with that to be honest, if he wants Vidic and Ferdinand to play, say a zonal system they are not used to, and Jags and Distin have been great examples of it working, why not show them the intricate parts using the Everton players?

Its not teaching them how to be defenders, its just a visual aid to describe the new role within their existing role.

It makes sense to me and I doubt they would be considering it sucking eggs, or taking it as him making out Jags is a better defender, he's just using Jagielka as a good example of what Moyes wants them to do.

The rest of that interview is a bigger story for me, sounds like Moyes was constantly battling players, playing them incorrectly, failing to massage the ego's, failing to raise lost confidence after their first games.

Trouble is the macho hierarchical world of football means the inference IS there whether by design or accident and whether anyone admits it or not it was a dreadful own goal entirely in line with Moyes history. If he had any self awareness he'd have swerved the Jags thing - the world is full of defenders.

But he lives in a bubble divorced from reality surrounded by his yes men none of whom seem capable of tapping him on the shoulder to tell him he's straying into "tool territory" again. But fair play to Vidic he avoided ripping Moyes apart even though there's more than a hint utd players were as non plussed as the rest of the nation at Moyes credentials.

Once Moyes got into the dressing room with stuff like this the players realised their concerns were justified.

I posted this somewhere sometime earlier (maybe not on this Board) but I see Van Gaal becoming the most despised manager in the EPL very quickly..... outside of the Mancs fans of course.

He may even take the attention of Blues from Brenda.

To me he smacks of arrogance, ruthlessness and a condescending attitude to anyone who does not agree with his view of the world.

Maybe that is what will win trophies .............

I've never seen a nice manager win the big prizes (league and CL) even Pep has a bit of twunt in him.

With the LVG love in with the media, poor old Daveys reputation gets further shredded every day. He'll be lucky to get an assistant managers job at West Brom...........

Van Gaal filleted Moyes as soon as he arrived to take charge. It was like he was putting in his excuses early in case he doesn't clean up the way the mancs and Sky expect

Maybe DM deserved some payback for his condescension towards RM this time last year but.... still think Van Gaal showed an equal lack of class in this.

RM by contrast behaved impeccably in what he said about DM even though I am sure he felt he was taking over a team that was pretty one-dimensional.

Hoping LVG fails.

For two reasons:
1) More teams around us doing poorly is good
2) The backtracking in the media will be ace

1) I'd rather we got there on merit than relying on the muck ups of other teams. The league has already suffered a drop in standards compared to the mid-late 00s and that means we're going backwards on the continental stage.

2) I don't get this point really, the media haven't been saying anything out of place. All they've been saying is LVG is a superior manager to David Moyes which he quite obviously is.

1) I'd rather we win the league

2) Every day there is a new story about how United have that winning mentality back or something similar. The media is expecting them to rocket right back to the top. And they may well do that. But if they don't, there will be some prime media vaulting material.

1) That's an obvious one, however the league is poorer in terms of entertainment and standard compared to the mid-late 00s. I actually think that if we had our team from 2006-08 we would comfortably finish top four this season, and actually challenge for the title. Could you imagine Martinez with that side?

2) The media is expecting United to rocket into the top four, which is a fair and valid point of view and from what I've seen of their play during this pre-season it is a drastic improvement on their pre-season last season. If they don't get back into the CL spots this season they continue their rebuild under a manager who actually knows what he's doing and they get back into the top four in 15/16.
