Moyes to sign new 3yr deal

If we qualify for Europe the contract will be signed within seconds of the final game of the season, no question. That's what Moyes wants more than anything, more than a cup I would suggest. If we get get neither it'll be question of what bull**** Kenwright can wield on him he didn't already use the last time Moyes' contract was nearing its end

What's the odds on a new 75k/80k a week a contract, making him the highest paid employee in the club's history?

That is a very fair point but the fact he hasn't signed suggests his own demons are rising, he's a very wealthy man and doesn't have to do a hand's turn for the rest of his life if he so wishes.

He strikes me as acutely aware of his own press and the pats on the head he gets outside of GP is of the patronising "ok at everton but thats it.... whats he won?".

If he's as ambitious as he makes out 11 years treading water here must make him ask if not the money - then why?

exactly, he has to ask himself if he stays here for 5 more years what will change.
we lose too many key players to have a side to win trophies or get top4. last 3 seasons we lost lescott arteta and pienaar ion back to back seasons, and now with fellaini its not a case of if its when he moves. you cant build a successful team like this

Ok then for those who think he wont sign, Where is he going?

Only place I can think of is Spurs if AVB gets the bullet after one season

Doesent strike me as a man after more money,I think he would happily take a massive wage cut if the right club came along.

cast your mind back to 2008 when he signed his contract, BK had the contract on the table for months before moyes signed, if he was after the money moyes would of signed it straight away.

sometimes you have to go backwards before you can go forwards,
look at di matteo, sacked from west brom got went for the birmingham joba nd never got it, had to take a coaching position at chelsea and 12 months later wins the champions league.

im not saying moyes will be a coach, but he does have the option to manage in a foerign league with a team where Cl/europa league is guaranteed every season aswell as a few demoestic cups.

2 things you need to get a lookin for the top jobs
1) european experience
2) trophies

The price of Kenwright and Co defeating the Blue Union, denying AGMs or any realistic form of fan accountability is this.

Same really. In all honesty though I really hope he stays. This is the best football I've ever seen Everton play.

P.S. I HATE your avatar. It's far too early for that!

He'd have renewed his contract by now, he's going mate.

Don't agree mate, he's playing the game, leaving his options open & maximising the leverage that his contract running down gives him.

There's not a better paid, safer, bigger job out there for him, he's never going to get a better number than he's got at EFC.
He's earned the right to get where he is, he's created the stability & there's no way he's going to bin it off chasing his arse at a lesser or comparable club for less or the same dosh. There's only a handful of jobs that might tempt him imo & I don't think he'll be offered any of them.

He'll draw it out, clasp Kenwrights bollocks to the boardroom table & then sign a new 2 or 3 year extension. ;)

Who?

It would have to be someone higher up the food chain than us, So who would go for Moyes IYO

Just to repeat a post I made earlier in the thread.

There's more than 20 jobs in the world. The general opinion, thought not mine, is that english football has a glass ceiling and if you want to win trophies or play in the CL you need to either have more money than god or be employed by one of the big boys.

But the same can't be said of any other league in europe where teams from outside the established top clubs still challenge at the top on relatively modest budgets (eg. Udinese, Wolfsburg, Montpellier and Malaga). If Moyes buys into the idea that his inability to break that glass ceiling has been due to the state of english football than an everton sized club in one of the other four big leagues would be more attractive.

It's a fact that Getafe wanted him last summer. If he wanted a job at a mid level or struggling club in spain, italy, france or germany he could get it, imo.

That's true. There are jobs where he might have a better chance to play CL and win trophies, though.

It all depends on his priorities.

Massive increase in risk i.e. the sack plus putting his reputation on the line, for a job that probably won't pay as well, isn't necessarily a bigger club, but the CL might convince him to have a go?

Does that sound like Moyes to you mate? nah, maybe in another few years, when he's totally finanically secure & can gamble with his security without worrying about the consequences, but not now, he's too young imo.
