Moyes to sign new 3yr deal

Wigan haven't been relegated, though. Wigan FFS.

Moyes great achievement isn't keeping us in the division, that's something Paul Jewell manged to do on a tenth of his resources, it's making us competitive at the top.

You have to be really really bad to be relegated. Sunderland haven't in about five years and they're awful.

TBH, if Moyes threw a fit and walked out I'd be more than happy with Roberto.

Oh god no, he's awful. Most overrated manager in the world.

Paul Jewell and Steve Bruce left him a squad that tended to finish around about 11th or 12th and he managed to amazingly turn it into one that finishes 17th. Wow.

As impressive as his end of season runs are he wouldn't be in that position if he actually won some games in bloody autumn. Plus his record in cups is terrible, they lose to league 2 opposition more then we do. And some of the football they play is just awful to watch.

I believe that Moyes will never get us relegated and also that he''ll never win us a trophy and I also fully believe that a new, unproven in this league, coach could do either. If it's spoilt to think that finishing midtable and not winning anything isn't the most you can hope for as a fan then I'll gladly accept that label.

The idea that the lower league manager untested in any top flight who Kenwright hired is the only manager in the world to do what he can do, though. No, I can't go with that. There are both better managers than Moyes and worse ones, now I'll accept an argument that our board are more likely to pick the latter than the former but the idea that he's such a special snowlfake that it would be impossible to replace him with anyone who can even get us to 17th while Moyes took us to 6th. No, that's taking hero worship too far.

Which is fair enough mate, i respect that opinion, i defo just dont agree with it. If clubs were run on basic natural coaching talent then - yes i would prob agree. There are clear limits though, from a business and organisational point of view, in fact we offer any new incumbent prob the worst tools to work with in the PL in terms of budgets etc, its miraculous how well we have done given our means. We wont look for a coach and Moyes just isnt a coach, he is a manager he is involved in roles that "plenty of forgein coaches" arent and wont be interested in. Im sure you know the continental model is quite different to the traditional English model even if that has creeped into the league at one or two clubs.

Ive said for many years from a business perspective and a footballing perspecitve - Everton cant do without Moyes, hes worth 10s of millions to the club. Hes far more important to us then we are to him.

But a few other points i disagree with: I think we are wholly capable of winning a trophy under Moyes - i think when/if we do hes gone.

Secondly yes i believe we have no right to expect to finish anywhere but the bottom 10 in the PL - not due to size, prestige or heritage or being unambitious but because our budgets are consistently low its that simple we have no right to expect to be as good a swe have been over the last 10 years. Its that simple we're a poorly funded PL club, with lower budgets then teams going down and some teams scrapping for promotion. The difference is Moyes talent.

Like i said i also think the team breaks up if Moyes goes, he built it after all.

Our wage bill is among the top ten in the league, therefore in purely financial terms we should expect to finish in the top ten.

And there haven't been 17 teams in the whole of england to spend more, either in gross or net, than us in Moyes era. If we performed solely at our financial level that would leave us about 13th to 16th in the league.

Clearly mate, you think your moderator, your not - so try and make a point.

Use language like that again on here especially to a mod and see what happens.

Um, i didn't use it towards you. However it was the language which an admin on here used toward a member.

Threatening members as well. Amazing. I don't think i'm a moderator at all. What i do think is that i'm a member who has as much right to post here as you, and i don't like being threatened.

But whatever. I simply made a post which was on topic and you responded with 'Pull your pants back up'. Don't think i'm the one being childish.
