Very possible he could take them down again next season too

Maybe he has a contract clause that would cost them £10million plus to sever so they're hanging on hoping he doesn't destroy them completely.........
Oh hang on a minute that's the fella who replaced him here isn't it?!
Moyes has been put in an impossible situation with Sunderland. Years and years of mismanagement have finally come back to kick them when their down. They can't sack him because nobody is available who could do a better job at this stage of the season. They had their chance to sack him before or during the Jan transfer window. They didn't so now what would the point be? I'm afraid Sunderland are looking at some pretty glum years unless they change their hire and fire attitude with managers, deal with their awful recruitment policy and heavily invest in rebuilding their awful squad. Sacking yet another manager won't even come close to fixing the long term problems at Sunderland.
Nah, the gulf in class between a poor Preimer League side and an average championship side shows every time. Look at that awful Aston Villa side that got relegated last season. They are easily a hundred times worse then Sunderland yet their comfortably safe in mid table in the championship and I'd not be surprised to see them in a push for the play off sopt next season. Plus I doubt he'll be there this time next season.Very possible he could take them down again next season too
Ellis Shortt is apparently the seventh richest man in Ireland. I thought he was a yank
Claims he does. Only there for tax purposesHe is, he just lives in Ireland.

Doesn't surprise me in the least mate and I'm not trying to be a,after the fact smartarse.I'm surprised how poor Moyes has done.

I truly can't see Moyes winning or even coming second in the championship. He's not a winner. He could never inspire his team's to act like winners. He's an excellent manager for keeping teams at a certain level if given time, money and patience. Finishing mid to upper table most years by making his team's difficult to beat? Sure Moyes could definitely do that. But going into a league were his side would be the giants to kill and would be expected to win 9 out of 10 weeks? it would never work imo.I think Sunderland have the players to bounce straight back up. If all their long term injured players get back (Watmore, McNair etc), combined with what they have, they should be a force in the championship.
Can't blame them for not sacking the manager due to what has happened the past 5 years or so, it's not sustainable. A season out of the PL will give them a chance to rebuild, get rid of the high earners and give youth a chance. It will be good for the fans as well to be winning games again, can't be enjoyable with the win % they have had over the last several years.
They have to give Moyes the chance to put it all right (which is clearly what they are going to do, otherwise they would have sacked him long ago)

Well I think we're going to find out, because (barring a full-scale fan mutiny) he ain't gonna be sacked.
Sunderland's next 4 games are Boro (A), Bournemouth (H), Hull (A), Swansea (H)
Those 4 games are pivotal for Moyes, not necessarily for survival, but to give the fans something positive to hang on to, otherwise it could get bad for him
