Hahaha, of course hes not our best player, but he could be, honestly, this is a serious post, hes a very talented boy.

He excels in man marking, tracking a player and then timing the tackles, defensively hes superb, he suffers slightly with getting pulled out of position but thats the reason most teams employ 2 DMS, his range of passing is also amazing, those little floated crossfield balls he plays make me sex wee. His tackling isnt as bad as some make out, yes he dives into tackles, but 90% are hard and fair, but now and again he will miss time 1 slightly and pick up a booking. He can also run with the ball and take a man on, which I find baffling when people say hes not creative.

Hes a work in progress, the cliches are real, hes a young lad learning the league, a new position and gelling with his team mates, but IMO hes had 1, maybe 2 games in which he hasnt shone. He will only get better and I really enjoy watching him play, his attitude is just amazing, he has a will to win that most players would die for.

My only worry is that we waste his talent by sitting him on the bench, I really do worry that he will look for a move in the Summer, which will honestly make me cry.
Honest question; not taking the piss or owt, what do you reckon he can/will improve on as he gets older that will take him to that next level?

We should not judge Besic on what we have seen from him this year. He was brought into a struggling team because of injuries to probably our most influential player(McCarthy). He did quite well , he gave an indication of the player he can become but still has quite some way to go.
I would say that he has played far more first team games already than was ever planned for him this season.

He is still probably two seasons away from being a player that can expect to play every week....and yes, at the moment if it is a choice between Barry and Besic, I would pick Barry. That, I expect is a situation that will gradually change over the remaining term of Barrys contract.

Spot on.

When judging him, we need to keep in mind the extraordinary career progress he has made in under three years. He's gone from being a Hamburg reject / playing in the Hungarian league to playing in the Premier League and holding his own at a World Cup.

Betting against him making more progress in the next three years would be a gross error.

Smarter tackling. And while his passing is rather accruate but in the attacking end he just............takes......forev...er....to...get.......rid.......of...bal...zzzzzzzzzzz

All stuff that should get better with experience and/or may be helped out if/when we enventually sign actual wide players.

Good shout, and the fact that he only played as a CM competitively about 10 times max before joining us! He usually filled in at RB for Hamburg and played CB at Ferencvaros.

It can be a big ask for any young foriegner to come to the prem and instantly perform but to come from a league such as the Hungarian with limited experience of playing in the position we see him in for the rest of his career possibly, I think he's shown up well so far.

He's still learning the position but his passing range is decent and he doesn't shirk a tackle but his positional awareness needs to improve but that will come with game time. When he does get a full understanding of that position, that role, he's gonna be an handy little player!

"FFS pass!!!!"

"FFS just give someone else the ball!!!
