Let's put a bit of perspective on into it here. Barry was brought in to be a starter with McCarthy just like last year, he had a very bad period when the team collectively was crap. He's getting on and Martinez bought Besic as an eventual replacement, I think everyone has been shocked by how good he can be. He's come into a new league, culture, position, and playing style and has exceeded expectations. I think Martinez will move Barry on eventually but it is only Besic's first season and he has had a lot of adjusting to do, I expect we will see him starting games regularly by this point next year and probably earlier.

All joking apart its a shame he hasnt played as much as he should, but hes still played 20+ games, which isnt bad for his first season.

I know at 1 point Barry was utter garbage, but I personally feel Barry does a better job even still, you would imagine going forward, as Barry ages even more that he would start phasing Besic into the starting 11. Its difficult to know what Martinez "best" formation is and where he is looking to go next season, but Besic for me should be 1 of the first names on the team sheet by the turn of the year.

I just hope he is "learning" from sitting on the bench and is willing to sit it out for another 6months, would be a crying shame to lose him, which is another reason that I really hope we dont sign Cleverley.

Besic has had loads more game time this season than he will have been told to expect. And he's done loads better when played than Martinez will have expected. Everyone involved is happy basically and I'm really interested to see how he'll slot into the team in future.
