Merseyside Police has put a huge cordon in place around the Knotty Ash area as the gunman is hunted.

15 years to the day since Rhys Jones was murdered and the same night as a 50 year old woman was stabbed to death in Kirkby.

There’ll be media, politicians and community leaders picking the bones out of it for a week or two but really how do you reconcile that and the impact it will have on those who loved them. For such a compassionate city we’ve took a wrong turn somewhere. Sincerely breaks my heart.

There's no social responsibility in society anymore. It's a hierarchy and when you see those at the top disregarding the lives of others and you see corporations ripping people off or pumping crap into the sea then that is what the whole 'trickle down' economics is all about.
A lot of people take no part in society so don't go with a moral code and these are the consequences.

I know it sounds counter intuitive, but the worst thing the police did was to go after organised crime and gangsters. It has allowed any old scrote to do what they want. The police don't have the resources to tackle this problem.

In terms of the young girl, I’d suspect it’s more likely that both were not the intended targets although that obbiously doesn’t make it right.

Hopefully, as with Mercer, the shooters name will already be know to the authorities as there’ll be those in criminal fraternity who’ll throw them to the wolves.
