Naismith 'Strike' Credited As Own Goal

The header was hitting the corner flag before it was bundled into the net by the GK and a defender. It probably took the panel two seconds to come to their conclusion.

I know you don't fancy Naisy, Dave but that is a bit 'arsh even for you.

That header was going nowhere near the corner flag and you know it

It would have have gone out of play where the line of the eighteen yard box meets the bye line :p

To be real, its odd how they can take the naismith goal from him,but give the Mirallas goal as his lol, that Dubious Goals Committee must have some Dubious people

No, it is nothing to do with whether the keeper would've saved it, it is just whether the shot was on target.
I was thinking more of whether the scorer should be credited with the goal if, say, the ball was going straight to the goalie before it
was deflected. That's not to say he couldn't stuff it up, but, yer know.

Whatever happened to "the referees decision is final"?

How could anyone possibly suggest Barkley's was an OG anyway. Ran half the length of the pitch and battered it home. Who cares if it took a deflection, he had a shot, it went in, it's his goal. Same as the other 2. Deflections should never be counted as OGs

If the original shot is going wide then deflected in, of course it should be counted as an og.

I tend to agree with this.

Who gives a toss whether it deflected off've someone it not......it is a goal.

End of.

Why would anyone waste their time ruminating over whether or not a shot was "on target" or not?

The title of the sub committee is just preposterous and mirth inducing......."The Dubious Goals Panel".

FFS.

It is not like the person it deflected off is anxious to have an o.g. credited to him or owt.

What a waste of time.

Proper own goals are what Sandy Brown used to score.....to need for a "Dubious Goals Panel" to rule on those :)
