Naismith? Thoughts?

There isn't really much pressure to win at Everton though, is there?

Hence why we've won 1 trophy in 25 years and have a manager that finds it acceptable to field a starting eleven week on week with Phil Neville in it.

If the whole Nil Satis thing was distilled from the top down we might have seen something different, but alas it means very little and we got knocked out of a very winnable cup competition by f*cking Leeds.

NSNO is myth... There is no such thing.. There never really was. Its a saying but its simply not possible.. ever.. in almost anything in life.
Naismith is right though, like you say, people expect us to win some games and lose others, therefore the pressure simply isn't the same.. Their fans would go mental whenever they lost a game.. but for one reason.. They had a massively superior team to anyone who stood against them so they were right to expect victory.
Any way you look at it, we don't have a mssively superior team to the rest of the league so our expectations are different.

My argument is that he's said that expectation is lower here than at Rangers, but for the most part he's been pretty crap whilst he's been here so far anyway. Wrong attitude full stop.

Think people are confusing desire and expectation. No one expects Everton to go to 90% of the away game and win them, they did at Rangers. Just because we're not expected to win at City, United or Chelsea doesn't mean the team wont go out and try their best to win. Rangers drawing away at St Mirren would have been seen as a terrible result while us drawing away at Stoke would be seen as not optimal but most would be happy we took a point.

Yeah.

I think he meant that at Rangers anything less than a win against any club was not acceptable, whereas at Everton a point at home against a team in the bottom 3 is good for the manager cause its 1 point closer to 40, and good for the fans cause they probably spent more money than us and we could be playing in League 2 so 7th place is success.

Nail on the head.

Naismith is not being disrespectful in what he said. What he is saying is that Everton's opponents are a lot closer in standard to Everton than the St Mirrens etc are to Rangers. It's a much poorer league. Therefore you would expect Rangers to win more games. In theory they should because of the standard of the opposition. It's really that simple.

As far as some of the comments on here regarding Naismith are concerned some are way below the belt. I don't understand the severe ****ging he gets from one or two posters in particular. They know who they are. They only see the negatives and never the positives. The guy isn't Lionel Messi but he always puts in a serious shift and has benefited the team in the majority of games. Constructive criticism is always good but this is way beyond that. It stinks. Being played out of position isn't helping the guy either but some on here have it in for him. They seem to want him to fail - and that is pathetic attitude from any fan. Embarrassing to read. Why that is the case I don't know. Seems to me the criticism goes beyond that of a player who is thought to be not good enough. Or is it because he used to play for Rangers? Could be and it would be no surprise. There are plenty of bitter fans out there. Whatever the reason I have no time for so called 'fans' constantly bad mouthing an Everton player. I think he will come good. As we all know Moyes likes him and will play him as and when needed so get behind the guy.

That'll be me then.

Nope, don't care about him playing for Rangers. Jelavic did.

Yep, still think he's dog sh*t as a player and just "putting in a shift" isn't good enough for Everton.

Seems a nice enough bloke but lacking in the quality needed for the top end of the Premier League.

And he's coming back from a serious injury.

Know what? I thought he was sh*t before his injury and playing behind the striker. Ok against the likes of Dunfermline and St Mirren but not against Celtic or any of the second level of teams.

Look, I'd love him to come good, prove me wrong and be an important player for Everton for years to come.

He won't though. We'll sell him to Birmingham or Cardiff in the next year or two.

I think hes looked a bit meh.. crap but I also think its a different level to what hes played at I also think playing Right wing in the premiership is a world away from playing up top or behind the striker in Scotland.

I always like to give a player a season, a season of being in and out the team and then judge him next year. Hes scored a few important goals and I hope he gets a few more- I hope he plays up top or behind for a few games so we can make an educated decision rather than just f'ing him off straight away.

You're completely misreading what he said. At rangers they are wanting to win EVERY game and win the league etc, At Everton we're not expected to win EVERY game or try winning the league. Sort yourselves out.

This line of reasoning is correct. All the people getting offended and crying about his comments are totally misreading what he said. It's simple FACT that Everton are not expected to win every single game. It doesn't matter what you're league level you play at, there will be some teams where you're expected to win all the time (United in the PL, Cardiff in the Championship), and some where you're not, like Everton.

But of course we all forget Fellaini's comments where he said he'd 'seen all there is to see' at Everton and continue to wrap our lips around his c**k because he's ace. Hypocritical as [Poor language removed].

Give the lad a break, it's tiresome. At least the Neville bashing was justified.

Well said.

Twelve appearances and he's being written off. Unreal.
