Naismith? Thoughts?

Hes up there with the claus thompsens, ian marshalls and brett angels in the clubs history, one of the worst players I've ever seen

total over reaction this, but I've had a bevy, now wheres the osman thread, hes getting it

Total over reaction from the above.

The guys a major scapegoat for some regulars who under performed today and some other games this season. He was no worse than Fellaini or Osman today.

Yet no mention of those two.

Naismiths a good player playing out of position. Hes better than anything else weve got on the bench when Mirallas aint fit and possibly the only one with a likely goal in him.

100 times better than gueye and currently better than Oviedo

This thread annoys me. Hes nowhere near as people make out, its just the fact that hes our worst outfield player at the moment, but when Neville gets back, this thread will stop being used. Fact.

It's a joke.

Honestly mate, the other people who i go the match with all said today that Naismith did a fine job considering he's never a winger in a million years, and some of them have been massively critical of him in the past. I swear he'd have to score a hattrick for some on here to get off his back.

You can't possibly know he's better than Oviedo.

Only saw the 2nd half but Pienaar looked like our best player.

Have to disagree mate. When he was given time and space by the Stoke players yes, he worked the ball around well. The problem was that he was rarely afforded that time and space and his lack of pace (which isn't a criticism, simply how it is) led to him struggling to create the space for himself.

He was pushed off the ball way too easily all game and some of his 'tackles' were a joke.

To be fair to him, it's not really his fault because he was always going to struggle against a team like Stoke away from home, but that doesn't change the fact that he was pretty underwhelming today. His ridiculous waste of the opportunity right at the death summed up his performance for me.

For some reason I get the feeling he's being asked to play that way...

I thought second half - for the period he was on - he stuck out wide, so I'm assuming Moyes had had a word with him about drifting inside too much. That was a joke first half: three of them bumping into each other taking each other's space.

If he's going to hold a place (and Moyes seems intent on giving this feller as many opportunities as he wants) he's going to have to stick at his task of operating down the flank and picking the right time to move inside.

If Mirallas wasn't such a a massive [Poor language removed] then Naismith wouldn't have played half as much. I don't think anyway.

To be fair Dave i thought he did well in terms of staying in position, it's an unfortunate reality that a poacher like him is going to drift inside. When the game is in full flow and you're looking for the ball it happens. He was pounded with long balls out to the wing from Howard for the first 45, which was an absolute joke as he's hardly the strongest or tallest of players.

On balance it was a solid performance from a player who is never a wide man. I'll point to Osman as a classic example of a player used out of position for far too long. He's a different player in terms of ability with the ball at his feet, but it's another case of Moyes putting a square peg in a round hole.

I dont rate Naismith, but at the same time dont understand the creaming of Oviedo, he's done absolutely nothing since hes been here, pace but no end product, atleast Nais has a footballing brain
