Naismith? Thoughts?

If Mirallas wasn't such a a massive [Poor language removed] then Naismith wouldn't have played half as much. I don't think anyway.

Yep. I'd like to have seen Oviedo feature but other than that there aren't really many alternatives for the right wing position at the moment. Barkley perhaps, but he's also not a wide player.

To be fair Dave i thought he did well in terms of staying in position, it's an unfortunate reality that a poacher like him is going to drift inside. When the game is in full flow and you're looking for the ball it happens. He was pounded with long balls out to the wing from Howard for the first 45, which was an absolute joke as he's hardly the strongest or tallest of players.

On balance it was a solid performance from a player who is never a wide man. I'll point to Osman as a classic example of a player used out of position for far too long. He's a different player in terms of ability with the ball at his feet, but it's another case of Moyes putting a square peg in a round hole.

He did nothing obviously wrong; but that's not the sme as saying he had a solid game. IMO, his movement was snarling our front two up (two who find it hard enough to strike a partnership in the first place). I henestly think it may have contributed to Fellaini's frustration on the day (though there's no excuse for him, of course).

Bottom line for me: if his manager has tasked him with a wide role, then that's what he has to stick at. It has ramifications all over the pitch if a player doesn't remain disciplined and keep shape. The back four was pulled about also first half because of it.

Must do a lot better, IMO. Stop looking for the darting run into the box and do his job properly (or to the best of his ability)

I feel like players just go right through Naismith and straight to Coleman. I'm starting to see the poacher side to Naisy, I think he might do well up front but he seems a little lightweight. As for now I don't think he should be starting wide.

You can't possibly know he's better than Oviedo.
From what ive seen im in belief Naismiths currently the better option. Oviedo doesnt look to get inside the box.

I like Naismith. Ive seen him at his best for Rangers and by the way he stook out more tha Jelavic before that injury. Hes not a wide player.

I thought second half - for the period he was on - he stuck out wide, so I'm assuming Moyes had had a word with him about drifting inside too much. That was a joke first half: three of them bumping into each other taking each other's space.

If he's going to hold a place (and Moyes seems intent on giving this feller as many opportunities as he wants) he's going to have to stick at his task of operating down the flank and picking the right time to move inside.

I thought he was drifting up and in to get flick ons from Felli, but it wasn't really working...he needs to be central. He actually does ok with holding up long enough to pass out and and turn upfield. I just Mirallas would get back properly...frustrating.

Naismith to me he takes up good positions in the box he had one kicked of the line today, but he does tire easily but a usefull bit part player for us!

The thing is, if someone deserts their position, no matter who it is, they can ghost up inside the box and make themselves a nuisance for the opposition. He's basically looking for a free role at Everton that he had up in Scotland. That's not going to happen.

Well you tell me who supported Jelly in the box today???? hardly anyone far too isolated to even get a chance!

His natural position is behind the striker. Until you've seen him there you really cant bemoan him.

I think hes done a decent job for us. Not the best footballer but got 3 goals and has gave his all. He always cones of the pitch nackered

Think he'll be playing behind Jelavic while Fellaini serves his suspension, and i think he'll score while he does.

Qute possibly, but that role Felli carries out is no easy ride sitting in behind the front man. Felli does a good shift coming back a bit and breaking up opposition play before it gets going. Naismith better be prepared to get stuck into that role too as well as linking up with Jelavic. There's no passsengers in this team.
