….if Coleman is used in the back 3, I suppose Patterson will keep his place.
The last 3 years or so are evidence he should keep his place regardless if Coleman is back

I do think that is more of a confidence thing but that will come good.Looking ok,.only negative for me was he didn't want to take a chance and try and take their full back on. Kept coming back playing the easy ball
I'd have been astounded if he'd have done that in his first proper start for us, that will come good with confidence and 2 or 3 games under his belt.Correct.
I said yesterday his strength is in intercepting loose balls played out from the back by opposition defenders which he can then gather and run at their back four, directly toward the box.
It struck me as alarming that he isn't taking on defenders. That's a minumum if you're playing wing back and not tasked with that much defensive work. Even a soon to be 34 year old Coleman still does that.

This lad will come for us Dave I have no doubt about that.
….multiple managers have wanted Coleman in the team, I think Patterson has what it takes to win his place but he needs to go up a level.
It will all come together with experience, he's made a solid start.Maybe, maybe not.
He needs to add a good bit to his game to make it down here.
Pros: can pick a pass out from wide, physically up to challenging the opposition on the deck and in the air
Cons: positionally all at sea in his own final third, checks back too much when in possession going forward and fails to drive at defences
Hang on, you weren't wanting him out of his own half a week ago and now you're complaining he's not driving out with the ball and taking on defenders enough???Correct.

You're a cartoon poster.Hang on, you weren't wanting him out of his own half a week ago and now you're complaining he's not driving out with the ball and taking on defenders enough???
Absolute parody.
You talk some drivel man . Great debut against a great team. He will be our star player this season which will hurt you immensely. You're a cartoon poster.
If he's been handed a blank cheque to get forward then he has to carry a more potent threat to opposition defenders.
The fact he cant (and isn't being asked to) defend is already established.
All at sea wtf ??. The hatred is strong in youMaybe, maybe not.
