…I still think Coleman provides adequate cover for Patterson, much prefer him to start at RB than Holgate.

Patterson could be very decent for many years, unlike Dominic Calvert-Lewin I’m not overly concerned that he’s an injury risk.
He will do for now but he needs to be replaced in the summer. He just gets targeted in every game he plays now, within the first min he gave the ball away twice the other day, just isn't up to it anymore sadly. It's not a new thing either.

….he’s certainly not great in possession, I’m still ok with him defensively, though. it’ll be ideal if we can transition somebody like Danny Mills for next season.

Stanley Mills even lol the only thing with him is he looks more of a winger than a full back. We should look at someone like Lamptey at Brighton, fallen out of favour a bit since he had an injury last year and now lost his place to Veltman, local grapevine down here suggests he would welcome a way out if one came about and also ex Chelsea. He would be good competition/rotation for Patterson imo.

More of a wing back and tiny...

Maybe people should focus on the lad who's played 7 games in 10 months rather than the veteran who's notched up 332 appearances in an Everton shirt?

Your right Dave, when is Leighton Baines back mate, he's played loads of games, is far better than Coleman ever was and can cover the left back position. Sometimes people jump on you're back too quickly mate, can see where you're going with this experience ploy.

The team has really missed Patterson. Coleman is ok as a substitute in an early league Cup round but
he is a big weak link now. Today's Coleman offers nothing in an attacking sense and although he is a dogged
competitor it is an indictment of our transfer policy that he's still around. Though it is also true that its bad luck that
Holgate has been injured.

Patterson has it all to be a top full-back, has played really well at times this season and only wind-up merchants fail to
acknowledge that.

Fair play to the Irish like they do love their own.
I’ve only just recovered from having to read we should sign Jason knight all summer.

No one dislikes Coleman we just want what's better for the team and right now that's Patterson even having only played 7 games.

Sentiment has no place in football, you're either good enough or you're not, it doesn't matter how good you was its how good you are at the present.
