Dyche played him after that - then Patterson got injured at Chelsea.Yes, Lampard and then Dyche until slapgate last year.
Yes, Lampard and then Dyche until slapgate last year.
And then when Lampard started the next season, he started with Patterson until he got injured. Then as soon as he was fit again he got his place back. When Lampard arrived in the January just after Patterson arrived. Both new arrivals to the club.
I think he started one game against Boreham Wood and got hooked at half time.
The lad is 23 now, he has spent his whole career not being a first choice right back for his club and country. He is all hype unfortunately.
Dyche simply doesn’t trust Patterson and he has done little to dissuade him of that notion. His comments on Patterson truly make no sense whatsoever, regardless of what you think of him as a player (I see him as no better or worse than Coleman/Young - so essentially whoever is the most physically fit is fine starting in my eyes. All three bang average and wouldn't get a regular game at right back at any other Premier League club). Given Young has been good recently, I would play him, have Patterson second choice and Coleman third. Seems nowadays Seamus is much more effective behind the scenes, anyway.
You just need to look at the facts and what he's said (I may be a word or two out here, but in general this is what Dyche has said):
"It takes a long time to reach true match fitness"
"Patto has been out for a long time so isn't at true fitness yet"
"Seamus is available for the weekend"
Facts:
- Patterson has been injured a long time
- Patterson played the full match in the u21's most recent fixture, and 62 minutes in the fixture prior to that
- Coleman hasn't appeared on a football pitch since 7th September
- Dyche physically assaulted Patterson on a team bonding holiday at the start of the year
- Patterson is highly thought of by his team mates (evident from all of the social media videos and interviews with other players)
Now we can only go off what the manager says, and he hasn't once come out and said Patterson needs to improve in training. If he'd have said that, I'd fully understand why he doesn't get minutes, but he hasn't. He hasn't mentioned his workrate, his attitude, etc., only that he's not fully fit yet. But Seamus is seemingly ready despite not touching a football field for a month and a half? Strange.
Sean, we know you hate Patterson, don't try and kid the fans by fobbing them off with the "he's not ready" rubbish.
BTW I think Young deserves to start at right back anyway, but this is just annoying me.
Weird way to say he dislikes the lad.Dyche simply doesn’t trust Patterson and he has done little to dissuade him of that notion.
If he was the answer to right back then I really don’t think Dyche would care about what they have in common off the pitch.Weird way to say he dislikes the lad.

He absolutely does and will.If he was the answer to right back then I really don’t think Dyche would care about what they have in common off the pitch.
At the moment we have 2 RB in Coleman and Young that are well past their best, 1 RB in Patterson who is either not good enough for this level or has a problem getting to match fitness, and 1 makeshift RB in Garner who has picked up an injury. Any other club would have given a player like Dixon the chance in the first team by this stage. Its a no brainer, if he steps up and shows he can cope with playing at this level, you might just have saved yourself trying to sign a RB in January. If he can`t make the step up and puts in some bad performances, its just the same we`re getting at the moment whether its Coleman, Young or Garner in that position.I thought Dixon was a breath of fresh air away at Spurs - imagine the idea- real pace. Garner and Young have played ok
recently so I feel bad having a moan but I am exasperated by Dyche's conservative approach. Can Patterson still be unfit after
a month on the grass playing and running?
If the straight duke out isn’t between Patterson and Dixon by season’s end then something has gone very wrong, succession wise.Youngs been very good the last two games in particular.
Nathans job of work is to take the shirt from a 39 years old full back, no ifs no buts, straight up duke out - not convinced Coleman is up to it anymore myself - if Nathan cant do it, it doesn't bode well. If he doesn't we will be buying a new right back in the summer and Nathan will just be a squad back up. Said it at the time we missed a trick not loaning him out last January.
Hopefully he can do it.
